so i have either a bad connection or a short in my overhead lights, but i cant get the dang thing off, so i was wondering if anyone could help me out, i also found a random wire in my engine bay that's disconneted i think it's a engine ground wire but im not quite sure so if somone could tell me what it is and where it goes that would be great, ive got pictures attatched of the interior and the random wire in my engine bay.

It's probably the rivets. Check here, also has directions for removing cover. http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?52954-Dome-light-does-not-come-on-with-door-open

Looks like you're also missing a engine lift hook. Yes it mounts to the back of the head where the hook is suppose to be too.
in the picture you posted, bolt the ground wire on the bolt shown on the throttle linkage, that's where mine are..
