interior lights won't turn on w/door open

I recently seemed to have an electrical surge or something. My power window switch stopped working for my passenger side and interior lights stopped working at the same time. My interior lights will turn on manually but not when i open the door or put the key in the lock, all the other lights work. Where is the control for this operation? is it a specific fuse/capacitor location?

look on your dash. Does the light on the dash liight when you open the door?

My pin switches were bad and it was actually great fun with my alarm as the drivers one went out and I replaced it only to have the passenger side go out almost a week later.
