intercooler upgrade questions???

I want to know if this intercoolers are 450rwhp capable i mean better than stock??Does anybody have the specs on the spearco Intercooler for the mk3 ?? Im trying to upgrade my intercooler an would like to know if this intercoolers will support 450rwhp? is the intercooler on link one the spearco used for the mk3 kit????

i think drifmotion sells a couple of different spearco style intercoolers.

My Driftmotion type looks like the tanks are bigger to me. A bit more than those are, but it's for a known product...

The first one has a core that is about the exact same dimensions as the cartech drop-in IC. Mike Malloy used that with either 2" or 2 1/4" inlets and outlets on it (restrictive) and still made over 500 HP to the wheels. That answer your question?

Granted it's not the exact same IC, but not much different at all.

Ok guys im gonna try the first one and when i get it ill compare it to the stock intercooler. The first one has the picture of an actual speraco intercooler and they seem to be the same dimensions. Il post some pics just for you guys to compare and get some real time info on this. It should be a good upgrade for about 450rwhp. For $120 shipped ill let u guys know if its worth it...

By the way anybody know were to get some slicone couplers im gonna replace all of mine and go with some t-bolt clamps???

If I am not mistaken the stock intercooler is good for 450hp if that is the only reason you want to change it.

Never heard of 450rwhp been achieved on stock intercooler but for $120 this one seem to be a good upgrade and better flowing than stock. I already have the 2.5 hard pipes goint to the stock intercooler, so now i just need to cut and paste to this one and get some 3-4 ply couplers with t-bolt clamps.

The IC's core in your 1st link is approx. 18" x 5.9" x 3"
IC's core in 2nd link is 19.5" x 6" x 3"
Although the stock IC's inlet and outlet are something like 2 1/4" and prob. arent as efficient as full al. bar &plate with 2 1/5 in./out and bigger endtanks.

If i were you, id go with the 2nd link IC. But you might have to relocate the stock oil cooler(which you should upgrade anyways) Just something to think about.

Stock intercooler inlet and outlet ar 2" I have just fitted some 2 1/4" hardpipes and had to stretch the rubber over my pipes to and from the intercooler.

I went through Verocious Motorsports, they were about the cheapest couplers that looked decent in Black (color was important to me) and the couplers are made by HTS. So they are good, the ones on this link come in a kit of 5 iirc and come with some crappy clamps so you will have to get some t-bolts which I got off ebay, very good quality by the way. Just add up what you are going to need for the whole install so you dont have to pay shipping twice.

Mounting and running pipe for a new fmic is always an interesting project.
The guy I bought the t-bolt clamps from is siliconeintakes (his ebay id) I am pretty sure you just can pick your size, and order as many as you want and then only have to pay like 8 bucks shipping. Might as well get all your clamps at the same time and replace them all, because you dont want your couplers blowing off!! That sucks!!
