my stock IC fins look similar to this. That tool did nothing but bend the fins out of line

That's what I thought you meant. I used it on the RX-7 Oil cooler I'm going to put on my car, and it worked great....fins are the same orientation.

On a sidenote, a buddy of mine also said a BBQ brush works pretty well to...but that was on A/C condensers, where the fins are in a finer pattern.
