Saw this intercooler on ebay and was wondering if anyone is running one? I like the end tanks. I just wanna know if there are any fitting issues.

5 inches is definitely too thick probably be a lot pressure drop. I'll try to get a 4 inch one then. Thanks guys
Ummm more area = less pressure drop through the core..

Steve GroupA Supra is using a 5" core in his build.

I run a 4" core IC, and there is 1/4 to 1/2" to spare. Me thinks that one is too big....

I've got a spare 4'' (100mm thick) one that is just lying around with my stock 7m intercooler currently on there, so you're telling me a 4'' thick one will fit without any extra cutting??? I was fitting on my front lip the other day and from underneath I was finding it a little hard picturing 4'' fitting...??

If it fits thats great, will give me more incentive to fit it sooner than later.

Fit without any trimming, works great.....

Really? Becasue I run a 4" core, and have TONS of room.

Those end-tanks WOULD fit, but those mounts on the endtanks will prevent you from tucking it up nicely.

Teh top of the IC sits at the top of the bumper support. There's atleast an inch more room behind the core. The end tanks are very similar to those you posted. The only fabrication was a custom hood latch support, which I integrated into the custom mounting bracket.

Thanks annoyingrob that picture was exactly what i was looking for. So I just need to relocate my hood latch and cut off the bottom mounts from the intercooler?. If you could can you take some pictures of the relocation? Thanks :biglaugh:

No, you don't need to re-locate the hood latch, you just need to make a custom support for the bottom of the latch so it doesn't flap around.

Sorry about these pics, it's really hard to take pictures of the intercooler.

Just so you know, this is a JZA70, I'm not sure if anything is different with it and an MA70.

There's a bar running across the stock mounting locations with mounts for the new IC. To this bar, I also welded on a small piece of steel to hold the bottom of the hood latch. This is because there used to be a big metal bar that went from top to bottom to hold the latch, but it doesn't fit with the new IC.

Here's the clearance behind the intercooler. There's about an inch or so of room. More if the intercooler wasn't as angled back as I have it. You can also see the mounting bar I have a little more clearly. There's another arm to hold the stock PS cooler, as well as a 2nd PS cooler I installed on top of the intercooler. (This is actually a JZA80 IC kit, and came with a PS cooler re-location kit, which I just used for the hell of it.)

The only problem you may have is here with the A/C evaporator. I'm very close to hitting it, however, if the intercooler is dropped a half inch, this is no longer a problem.

Rakkasan: You're right, I'm way below the tow hooks, which probably explains the clearance. This was the highest I could stick it in with those huge end-tanks. You can see the tow hooks actually curl around the end-tanks, and are still usable though :) (don't ask how I know that). I actually wish is was about an inch higher.

Yes, but it appears that your IC hangs way below your tow points, mine is tucked above them....

Yeah...I thought that too...when I first saw that pic, I thought it hung too low..
Does it hit the road when you go over a road bump or driveway?

I tucked mine well up so when you put the front bumper on you can barely see the 90 degree silicone coupler on the intercooler end.
But my intercooler is a spearco look alike...

Cheers,
Roy
