The DIY kit from DM [driftmotion] gets the job done. If you're careful and make sure the connections are good, it will hold boost reliably... and if you're careful on the cuts you could eventually get it welded when you can afford it.

Ebay and vendors on this site will provide you with a bunch of different low cost options. They're universal kits with couplers, clamps, and piping that you'll need to cut to fit, but no bending needed. Much cheaper than buying a premade pipe kit, just make sure they aren't thin walled junk. I bought a 2.5" kit off ebay for around $100 shipped and a spearco replica ic from Driftmotion.

I haven't put mine together but when I do I can imagine about 4-5 cuts will be needed, and probably half of those will be welded together with the rest using couplers (for ease of installation/removal and to allow the pipes to flex alittle with the engine). When it comes to thickness it's probably better to ask someone with welding experience as that's where a problem can occur if they're too thin, but from what I heard when I bought mine (way back when), they're thick enough. I'm not at home so I can't measure them right now.
