I vote gas. Gas alone, no water. After cleaning, drain thoroughly, cap off one end with tape or something, put a small hole in the cap, and blow through with an air gun until there are no fumes. Gas will dry a lot faster, and more completely than water, or solvents.
No, as if it dries on stuff it leaves a residue, and it eats aluminum by oxidization, so it's not going to really leave it clean...
Gas would be better, leave it in the sun after it's emptied out and it should all evaporate quickly...

x3 on the Castrol eating aluminum. A friend of mine just wrecked 4 perfectly good 4agze pistons by using super clean while trying to de-carbon them a month ago. It's good for cleaning the garage floor, but bad for cleaning engine parts!
