IIRC, a 95 Civic Intake works..

EDIT: Actually after searching a bit, I think the Civic Intake Mod is just for looks. If it isn't someone correct me.

You can buy mandrel bent 3" inter cooler piping and silicone couplers from DriftMotion, Horsepowerfreaks, and misc. other vendors. Get the correct angles, cut them to fit, drill a hole for the vacuum line after the AFM for the power steering idle up, install a grommet, and done. It's pretty easy, and inexpensive. I made mine in around an hour, and it works well. I think the bend from the t.b. to the afm is 45*, and the one going through the core support is 30*. Not 100% sure... The filter sits just above the fog light. I tried to get a pic, but it wouldn't turn out right.

Not really interested in bling. Much more interested in getting colder air into the engine. As far as feel, nothing over my last intake, but over stock it's a good improvement. My last one was the plastic tubing from A.Z., and the filter was bolted directly to the AFM. I wanted something with as few joints as possible, and had this piping laying around.

As far as filters, get the Apex'i. HPF has the universal 3" for around $64, iirc.
http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/index.html Stay away from the junk cone filters from A.Z. They let in to much dirt, which is not good for your motor.

As far as feel, there is a huge difference between my car(header, full 2.5" exhaust, test pipe, CAI, some other stuff ;)) and a stock n/a. I got the car with around 140k mi.'s on it, and it has 205k on it now. Those last 60k have been pretty hard, as I'm a heavy footed driver, and the motor is showing its age.

My current project, however.....

i tried using one for a 95 civic but the bends were not correct i would have to move the maf.. just trying to find parts to make it in its orginal place.. but thanks for the tip.

I never had a stock box. It was crushed when I got the car, and I never saw a reason to replace it. Technically, the stock air box, from what I can tell, does draw cooler air from in front of the core support. However, I doubt it has the ability to flow as much air as the open filter system, or as smoothly as the hard pipes I'm using. I don't have any dyno numbers to prove gains. My car does have better throttle response, and pulls harder, than the stock 90 N/A I've driven.

From what I understand, with the stock setup, you want to keep the resonator. Something about it holding reserve air for the t.b. when you nail it, or some such. Look for posts by CRE on the subject.

I can't believe how much this topic gets beat to death...

At best, this mod is bling only.

At worst, this mod raises intake air temps and may contribute too a rich "tip-in" condition.

I've found that at idle my intake temps generally rise by a minimum of 15° with the resonator replaced with aluminum pipe. I've also found that running a conical filter which is open in the engine bay typically results in at least another 5° . . . Anyone care to guess what this does to your power? Especially off the line?
