My mk3 turbo is still uninsured right now. I am currently driving a 94 bmw 525i. Will the insurance for the mk3 be more or less?

I pay liability , $276 every 6 months for my 88 Turbo w/targa. I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty, 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. The monthly payment for insursance on all 3 cars is $210 per month. I live in Alabama. When I had insurance on my 87 N/A, it was cheaper! The turbo/targa made a big difference.

This thread is making me so depressed. My insurance totally has me by the balls, I paid 1,000 up front, and 10 payments of 270 a year, it equals out to 3,960 or something, Basically 4 grand, and that's only the supra. People on here are paying less for 4 cars than I am for 1.

Fastway how much do you pay on the BMW?
How old are you?
What year and are you targa?
driving record?
I'm gonna say the Supra will be more, just don't know how much more. It's a turbo sports car compared to a 4 door sedan. For my 94 Eagle(4 door sedan) I pay about 1/5 as much as I do for the Supra.

used to pay 1200/yr last year full coverage.
now have my mk3 insured as a "classic car" and its 500/yr full coverage with 500 deductible.
Classic car (no limitazions except miles per year, im lucky if i put 3000 miles a year for northeast area)

try getting it insured as a classic car, that mostly would drop the premium down quite a bit.

I pay 320.00 for full coverage per year on my 89 turbo. Includes towing, roadside assistance, rental car, hotel if needed, declared replacement value of 10,000.00 if wrecked or stolen. Hell they even pay for a bail bond if I get arrested for a vehical related incident. ERIE INSURANCE! Most of you are getting robbed!

What I find amazing is how much more my MKIII turbo targa (1987) is to insure compared to my MKIV hardtop (1995) or MKIV targa (1994) when it comes to liability insurance - and how much more my old Chevy Blazer 4x4 (1989) is than all of them.

I think a lot of it has to do with airbags, ABS, traction control, weight of vehicle, etc.

I think what they are getting at with the rates is that I was far more likely to cause more damage & destruction in that 4x4 monster than I was in one of the sports cars. And witht the ABS/Airbags/Trac control the MKIV's are just safer than the other cars.

My girlfriends 2000 V8 Formula Firebird & her daughters 98 Mustang cost her more than ALL of my cars combined.

That Firebird is overpowered when you look at it's suspension & brakes (even though it has ABS, traction control, air bags) and I think that's why her rate on that car is SO high.

For all of my vehicles I pay a little over $2k per year, but that's with INSANELY high liabilty coverage and all the insurance bells and whistles. And I'm 39 years old.

My gf pays close to $4000 a year for insurance, and she has no tickets or accidents and is 40. Her daughter is 22 and I think that's the killer on her policy. A lot of that is the insurance company fiction where they say all drivers have equal access to all cars. They count the kid as a driver on boh of her cars and therefore the kid more than doubles her rates. The reality is that the kid would never touch the Formula.
