Most aftermarket gauges use their own sending unit. More than likely the stock sensor will not work for an aftermarket temp gauge.

That just made me remember. I think it was NashMan that was going to make a spacer for the thermostat cover that 1. would allow you to take the upper timing belt cover off without removing tstat cover and 2. could be tapped for a sensor. I don't know if he ever got his group buy going or approved or something.

yes i over looked that in my post and recommend making the sender fit on the engine side for the same reasons the ecu and gauge senders do...

good point jj

if you have removed your charcoal canister you can remove the vacuum switch and tap it for 3/8 npt or 1/2 what ever it is then buy a Home Depot 3/8npt to 1/8 npt ID plug and put it in the hole. or if the sensor is already 3/8 then screw it in. tapping the holes of a sensor you will not be using to a standard size is cheaper than trying to find a 14mm x 1.25 fitting. i plugged up my csi hole and the extra port/hole on the thermastat cover i put a bleader screw in it to bleed out air.
