well now that i see it, then jumping the ignition wire with the battery should make it attempt to crank.

jetjock said:What is the voltage across the battery when this happens? If you're supplying adequate power and control to the starter (and it sounds like you are) then it has to be the starter itself. A lesson in always testing new parts prior to installing them.

So i take it that you had a bad starter.Sawbladz said:Today I pulled the starter and will be leaving for Parts Source soon. What a difference experience makes. I got it off and in my hand in under 1.5 hrs. Will update later if I get it installed and running. **crosses fingers**
UPDATE: New starter in, some wiring repaired, car now runs. I finally got to take it for a nice long run.
