We installed my fmic yesterday on my 1jz sc300. Installed a ssqv bov and disconnected the vacuum lines from the stock bov and used the main line for the ssqv.

Now the problem is that b4 the swap i was boosting 10lbs constantly. Now If I floor it I will go past 10 to 15 and Ive hit boost cut sometimes. Did we tap the wrong line? I dont even have a boost controller installed. Ill take some pics of the set up.

The overboosting seems to just be the effect of using a better flowing IC. The blow off valve is meant to relieve pressure when the throttle is shut and has absolutely no correlation to how much boost your going to reach. The 'Wastegate' is what regulates your boost. Unless you have changed anything with the stock waste gates, you shouldn't have messed anything up. Its just not breathing through a straw anymore :)

one wonders if your stock bov was connected wrong and causing a leak. A bpu 1jz its fairly common to overboost to fuel cut when cooler outside.

We actually found a coupler stuck inside the piping when we made a intake. So that could of been a little factor.

I dont have a wideband nor do I have a piggyback. I have a safc that I have yet to connect. I think im running a little rich tho, Im gettin alot of exhaust smoke sometimes at idle and my bumper starting to become black near the muffler.

I was thinking that the car is leaning out when I try to floor it and it hits 15 then I feel it cut back like I have no gas. (like when i try to boost on a empty tank) Is that fuel cut? Would a fine tune with the afc fix that?

btw the car feels so much better, the full 3" exhaust and fmic def has it flowing better. Im fish tailing in 1st and 2nd gear lol . Its 2.5" piping and 12x24x3 core off ebay.

ps... for the stock bov, what should I do with it? Plug it up? Or take it off and hammer "something" so it doesnt open up anymore

Ok, about the bov, search, there is a thread on how to fix it. I forgot exactly what to do, it has somethign to do with disconnecting the vacuum lines. Also, about the leaning out at full boost, don't push it until you get a wide band. If you don't know what your a/f ratio is, you could easily lean out too much and blow stuff up. Please be extra careful. Widebands are your friend and will totally save you. You should be atleast 12:1 at full boost, or you will do damage.

Well, good luck and have fun!

looks like this is a job for fcd and a boost controller.

i had this problem before, i was boosting about 14psi and it cut. i didnt feel any extra power, the reason being is partly because of a boost leak that i was not aware of. You might want to check for a leaking coupler or a busted IC. my IC was cracked from the bottom and a gash of air was leaking out everytime i boosted, leading to high boost yet no power.

So the possible causes are:
a. not enuff fuel (leaning out after 10lbs) - the car runs fine unless i floor it past 10lbs

b. fcd needed and boost controller ( i have one but not installed - should i?)

c. fmic is defective maybe? hope not, the welds look pretty good

So should I start with the SAFC and tune with a wideband n go from there?

I definitely would suggest getting a wideband on there so you can see what the hell is actually going on. From my experience, i just cant feel accurately enough with my foot to tell me where my a/f ratio is at. You definitely don't want to blow your turbo or head.
