I picked up this wideband from Dr. J in a GB a while ago. I have a BIC downpipe on the way to me with a bung welded in so I would like to throw my wideband in now. The o2 sensor only has maybe 12-15 inches of wire on it, than it has to plug into the Innovate "control box?" as seen here.

So I would obviously prefer to have the box inside the car but with such short wiring on the o2 sensor, im not entirely sure it is possible. I dont have the downpipe yet so im not exactly sure where the bung is either.

Any ideas or opinions about the box being in the engine bay rather than in the car? I would hate to have to make a new hole in my firewall just for this.

Thanks guys.

The DP is gonna leave your sensor real close to the firewall anyway. You should be able to run your wiring in therough the firewall where the main harness goes.

I don't have any pictures of my LC-1 installed, as I only ran it for a few weeks before upgrading.

Look at the back of my engine bay, the solid vacuum line for the brake booster, I zip-tied it onto there. Then, I ran the cable through the grommet for the throttle cable. Worked great.

i installed my sensor in the test pipe. i pulled out the passenger seat and pulled up the carpet. then drilled a hole through the floor for the sensor wire. sanded, rustolium, rubber gromet and siliconed it to prevent rust. i mounted the wb controller right under the passenger seat carpet and ran the wires from there to the maftpro wiring at the ecu.
not sure where the bic mounts the wb bung, but probably wont work for you. but i chose this spot to keep it out of sight and reduce clutter in the engine bay and in the car.

The box is water resistant, and heat resistant (to a point). it will be fine inside the bay, but you gotta make sure its mounted right or else it will fall onto your burning hot dp ;)

Holy responses! Thanks a ton for reassurances and ideas guys. Can't wait to do that this weekend and install my FCD at the same time.

Next up, maybe a safc for this season.
