I've got a 89 supra turbo completely stock I pulled motor to rebuild got it back in now and I'm not getting power to injectors and just found out that the car was originally an auto swapped to 5 speed but ran fine before motor was pulled (pulled it to rebuild because it had a knock) now it will only start with starting fluid and the fuel pump only turns on when key is turned all the way to start position I've read a million forums and other online stuff but no one seems to have fixed this problem can anyone help me

First I have to ask, are you absolutely sure you have enough fuel in the tank to start the car? Not simply going by the fuel gauge, but physically know there is enough fuel. You would be surprised how many times people have been caught by this.

Next, if no codes is the case, please verify that the fuel injector resistor pack, is hooked up. You can see in on the right side of the picture located in this link.

Also, the fuel pump will only operate during cranking and when the ECU is receiving the NE signal from the Cam Position Sensor. The fuel pump does not turn on with the key like some systems. Since you said that the engine does catch with starting fluid then the ECU is receiving an NE signal. But if you still wonder about the fuel pump you can force it on by going to the diagnostic connector and using the diagram shown in my first link by jumping +B and FP. This will force 12V to the fuel pump as long as the key is on.

The resistor is hooked up and we used a noid light to test for power to injectors and nothing and we tested with a test light and it lit up when we touched to positive side of injector plug and grounded it to the block and we also checked to make sure there was fuel getting to the fuel rail and there is and we made sure fuel pump works

I'm pretty sure everything is grounded like it's supposed to be but do vaccums have anything to do with fuel and can someone send me pics of where the vaccum lines go I'm not exactly sure I got all of the right

Thank you dirgle I don't have all the vaccums right so I'll get all those in the right places so what else is there that could cause the injectors not to get power besides shorts and grounds not being hooked up

The OP mentioned that he got it to start with starting fluid. This would indicate spark as well as the Ne and G1 signals necessary to time the injection events are present. He has 12v present on the positive rail for the fuel injectors. He also tested and verified that fuel was present at the injectors.

I am curious if the engine merely coughed a couple of times or if the motor actually ran past the point where you stopped cranking.

As long as I spray starting fluid in the intake it will run I had it run for a minute or more without cranking by spraying starter fluid in the intake but as soon as I stopped spraying the idle dropped and it sputtered for a second and then it died so it gets spark just the fuel delivery is an issue

Jump fp and b+ in the diag box by the fuse box and go listen at the tank to see if you hear the fuel pump. If you do try and start it without starting fluid.

Ok so right now I'm getting spark the fuel pump turns on and I'm getting good fuel pressure all the way to the fuel rail and the cold start injector is working I've tried bypassing the resistor still nothing I've checked all grounds and they are good I'm not getting any codes for the check engine light and everything works fine except for the injectors we even pulled the fuel rail out with injectors and fuel lines connected and turned it over and got nothing until we pulled an injector off the rail then gas shot everywhere
