hi guys,

i finished my 7m 1jz swap
at first the engine was running fine

i had installed sard 540cc injectors
because i wanted to start with a big single
but later decided to stay with the twins for the time beying
but these injectors are to big for the stock twins
then i installed a apexi afcII fuel computer

then the shit begun
suddenly the engine running on 5 cilinders
and smoking like hell
and smelling gas everywhere

at first i thought it was a sard staying open
so i put back the stock injectors
but the problem stays

is it possible that my ecu is gone?

Yea it might be a good idea to send your injectors out and get them tested.
Im sure its some kind of problem you're overlooking concerning the swap. I'll let the jz gurus step in.

The way you wrote the story makes it sound like the problem came after the AFC, can you return the wiring to stock and see if the problem persists?

It sounds to me like you mixed up a wire somewhere. ie. dis-ableing one injector and running one open full time.

the problem indeed came after i installed the afc
but at first it was running fine

when it starting running weird i de-installed the afc
but the problem stays

Have you tryed checking for codes? maybe reset the ecu and try again. also check your connections on your engine harness...

Still sounds like a wiring problem, have you double checked?

the ecu was already reset
i did not check the codes
i will do that
i don't think it is a wiring problem
nothing changed there
and all the connectors are stock

Most local TV/VCR places can replace components like that, but I would go for a supra-supporting place such as drift motion.

Edit: I meant TV/VCR repair places

As the possibillity that it is a faulty injector has been ruled out and if 1 cylinder is not firing it can't be the injectordrivers as they are fired in pairs; you would allways see 2, 4 or all injectors not firing if there's an injectordriver problem. On the ecu there's only 3 injector ports, the wiring is split near the manifold to 6 wires.
I'd say it has something to do with the ignition, as these are dedicated per cylinder. And yes, this would most likely be the part which is fried on the board, but could also be something else in the system.
But defenitely not a faulty injector driver here.

:biglaugh: I wish! We should have a shop open there by summer 2107. :sarcasm:

You probably would want to change the electrolytic capacitors even if you can't see obvious leakage. They can be bad and look good visually. As mentioned earlier, any good tv or stereo repair shop should be able to handle it no problem. Another option is to purchase a "solder sucker" if you already have a soldering iron and order the correct value capacitors online. Make sure to get the same value in microfarads, and the same voltage or higher.
eg:You can use a 25v cap to replace a 15v cap, but don't go lower then the origional rating.
