Bought the supra with code 52. It had a jdm motor swap done.
I just don't know where the sensor's are. All i know is that they are under the intake mani. One is in the middle of the block and one is in the front'ish. What do they look like?
I suspect that the previous owner did not plug the knock sensor back in or something.
Here are some pics of things i found odd.

I'm more worried about the plug in the second pic. I know that the other thing is part of the vaccume system, but what are the other plugs?
Does anyone have pics of the knock sensor itself and the wires that go to it? From what i know the wires go to the ecu. THe ecu is under the glove box right?
Srry bout all the questions but i just want to ask all i can so i can get a good answer.

Jersey's here
I beleive the NA'S have only one knock sensor dont quote me on this.

Turbo's are under the intake mani at about piston 2 and 4ish. just get your hand under their and feel around. It is possible you have rod knock and the sensor is doing its job?

The white plug in the second pic is suppost to be on a vacuum valve for the JDM vacuum system. I remember because mine was set-up the same way, so i swapped over my USDM stuff. The first picture of the wire next to the strut bar is to the TEMS for sure, and the other next to the coil is for the headlight cleaner relay i think......look here and look for H2 on the sheet :

Thats where i looked to see where the hell my EFI Resistor was. Good Luck

I have a JDM N/A swap too and I have several plugs that are like that, but Im not pulling any codes though, before you start doing anything critical make sure one of those are not your knock sensor connector and the first one is your tems connector.

Yup, can't narrow it out. Too many wires and vaccume hoses there. I don't have a turbo, where is my knock sensor? By the alt? What does it loo and feel like? I can't see anything.

Edit, the knock sensor has one wire coming from it? I was just looking at google pics of knock sensors and i only saw one wire. Earlier today i felt the something that had only one wire coming from it that went into the engine. Was it the sensor? If it was then i can only follow the wire going up into the intake manifold. Considering that it is all messy there are there any instructions on how to take off the intake manifold?
One more stupid question, you can only tell if the sensor is doing its job with an oscilloscope, not a mutimeter right?

Ok with a little more help from a bunch of random sources i am a little closer to understanding this.
I found my knock sensor and just rigged up some speaker wire to it and ran it directly to my ecu but of course this doesn't work.
I need a coax cable? Arent there 2 conductors on a coax, the outter and the inner? What do i do with the outer? How would i connect the coax ends to the sensor and ecu?

So what your saying is is that your knock sensor doesn't have any kind of connector, and its just wire? See this thread here, and it might help you out http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29320
That grey connector is the knock sensor connector, Its located under the intake manifold, and right in the middle of the block. It is possible to plug it in without taking anything apart.

the knock sensor connectors on 7m's are GREEN, and circular. (very much like the blue connector on the t-stat housing, but green, and only one wire.

edit: these are knock sensor connectors:

and i had to make a whole separate post for this one. i'm going to be nice.

knock sensors do NOT pick up rodknock, nor are they supposed to detect rodknock. the knock sensors pick up detonation/pre-ignition, and adjust timing accordingly. they output voltage to the ECU and based on the input that the ECU gets from the sensors, depends on how your car is going to run.

so, in short: KNOCK SENSORS DO NOT DETECT ROD KNOCK!

That clears some things up for me. If that's the knock snesor wire-connector then what i am looking at is not it. Either that or someone else tried to wire it up. Here is a pic of what i am looking at unplugged
maybe this is just the wire coming out of the connector?

If and when i ever do find it, what exactly should i do? I can seem to get a straight well explained answer.

Ohhhh yeah, tsrm! Thats the answer i'm looking for!!!
Anyway, after looking at so many threads in a "knock sensor rewire" search i finally found this thread http://www.supramania.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11229&postcount=3 in a link from another thread.
Anyway, i pretty much gave up on trying to figure it out on regular post because i simpily can't get the right questions answered this way.
Shaeff, if i could i would like to talk to you on aim sometime. I'll just pm you when i see you on the boards.

the knock sensor is directly on the block, right in front of a vaccum pump which is in front of the starter. and there in only one on the 7mge and two on the 7gte

that "vaccuum pump" is the EGR cooler. that connector looks as if it slid out of the actual plastic connector, ofnarcr4. if you could get a better pic of it, i could tell you for sure. is there a circular rubber boot on the wire behind the metal connector?

you should just do this anyway:
