hey, i just mounted a 29X9X3"intercooler into the front bumper on my mk3. it looks great but when the bumper cover is on, about half of the intercooler core is covered by the bumper cover itself. i would like to see what people have done to increase the flow to the parts covered. either by a vent or cutting some of the bumper itself. i know about the turbo a duct, but where can i get one cheap? please post up pics of what you did if you have any. thanks!

aftermarket bumpers, while ugly can provide better flow..

you can hack up your stock bumper, but that's kinda ugly, and finally as you mentioned, the turbo A duct..

I'll take some pictures of what I just did a couple nights ago. I think IJ did the same thing, but idk. Basically you can take the bumper reinforcement out and chop it up slightly. It opens up airflow to the rest of the intercooler pretty well imo.

+1 chop the rear part of the crash bar/bumper support and make a plate that channels some of the air to the upper part of the I/C..

the turbo-A duct is probably the best mod for flow, but I've always felt that it sacrifices quite a bit of structural rigidity of the bumper support.

thanks for all the replies, i mounted mine in the metal bumper like some of you guys and i cut the back of it out for more flow so my main concern is flow from the bumper cover. i like the looks of the turbo A duct and i think that will be my best option, where did you get yours from? its a little pricy but i guess woth it. here are some pics of how its mounted. i got the core big enough to be level with the bottom of the bumper cover and hopefully not rip it off on a curb lol.

Recently crash tested mine and it held up better than stock with the IC surviving.... :(

(something to keep in mind when modding the reo)

crash tested? what happened?
but yeah the bumper is probably not as strong now so i may try and reinforce it like yours.
