i got the car all back together and running good. got the painted covers and manifold and TB on it and i think it looks awesome. i know alot of people were wanting finished pics so here you go!

yea we fired it up and were burping the cooling system and the valve covers are POURING oil down the back of the engine. BAH!
so need to replace those and pretty some stuff up then its time for tuning and upping the boost.
with the Aristo harness and ECU it runs so much smoother than it did with the 1J ecu. it might have a lot to do with the different timing and fuel map. seems alot easier to daily drive in town

yea mine never had a problem i just think the gaskets dried up from having the covers off too long. atleast its not like the 7m where you have rip off the WHOLE engine to get to the cam covers tho

maybe because you guys dont put the silicone where you are supposed to when you redo the seals on the 1jz :biglaugh: one of the first things i noticed between the 1jz and 2jz when you redo the cam cover seals
and you are missing a hood - i'll sell you mine!:biglaugh:
and yes it was a PITA wit the 7m unless you had a FFIM then it was easier than a jz hehe

nah i put the silicone where we had it the last TWO times we had the covers off. never leaked before until now.

Tissimo did the harness and a lot of the work and gave me the harness.
CSNOW brought his hands by to help out and tried to get a wrench to fit the oil pressure sender with no luck
and i got the Aristo ECU from him
i'm so excited, and i just can't hide it........

Just out of curiosity, where were you going to go for your new cam cover seals Reap? (Champion? or is there somewhere better..)
well i checked Advance Auto and they were 50 for the two gaskets

Its so wierd because many of the 2j and 7M guys are all talking about how much torque, but I have seen a few videos of 1jzs running low 11s, low 10s, hi 9s and one running a low 9. All of these were on an MKIII body. I don't give a damn how you lighten it ( or if you do), IT TAKES TORQUE to get it moving. Horsepower keeps it moving. Horsepower makes it fast (top speed) but torque makes it quick (like when the back end squats). The 1j has both. It all depends on the setup. I know you guys are not argueing this but if you had seen the videos I have seen, more people would not switch to the 2j. This was Toyotas 1st choice on a JZ motor. They must have thought it to be a capable motor as well. I know a guy in Fla that was tearing ass up for a while in a little 2.5L 1jz MKIII (no NOS). This includes MKIVs, Skylines and some heavily modded American muscle. Most don't push their motors too hard, but once you get 600+ rwhp, just go hunting! 1J love!!!!!!!!
