I'm totally stumped on this one

So I got my second 1JZ installed last night and got everything hooked up, but I can't get the thing running right.

It just cranks and cranks and cranks and never fires one time, then the next time it'll fire and stall out and keep that up for a while. Eventually it'll start right up and idle great but if I touch the throttle at all it dies.

Some relevant points:
180 compression across the board
New plugs
When it's idling it doesn't misfire at all, smooth as can be.
Aeromotive FPR and SAFC are present.
SAFC is zeroed out and FPR is set to a plain old 43psi or so.
I should also mention this entire setup was running great on my last engine and I can't figure out why it isn't now. The only major change was a step down from 550's to stock 1JZ 370's because it always ran too rich before.
Timing belt is dead on.

Cliff's Notes:
Hard to start, idles great once started but can't open the throttle or it dies.


Anyway, I'd love some thoughts on the matter. I've had this thing almost a year and it'd be nice to drive it finally.

Hows the fuel pump? Maybe check the circuit opening relay.

Maybe the fuel filter is stopped up, or the fuel pump isn't working properly. When I installed my 1jz, I didn't have the fuel relay plugged in and it wouldn't stay running either. Aaron showed me the error of my ways and it ran good after that. It ran way too rich, but it ran.

Damn it, I can agonize over something for 2 days and finally resort to posting on SM and I figure it out myself in a couple hours.

The nipple broke off the MAP sensor. Wasn't even the vacuum leak doing it, just the lack of MAP signal apparently.

I used JB Weld to reattach it, let it cure, and it runs great now!

IT'S AMAZING WHAT A SMALL ELECTONIC CAN O. good jon fngin ethe problem. i don;t know how old you are, but you'll soon , with wisdon, figure problems out, and it's a good feelng when ou do.... i love working on card, wish i stil had my mk3... i mis it so much, an nkiv just isn't worth is, imo... spen flots of monwy adn with an mk3 you can hab an awesom car while spendin a lot less... even with a 2jz swap... i mis hr so much

i was gonna say MAP but i got to this too late.

cause thats what my 1J car did when my hose got pulled off.

my 7M car did the same kinda thing when the MAF came unplugged lol

Its probably your map sensor, make sure the nipple didn't break off. If it did just jb weld it and it should run like a champ. Let me know how it turns out.

I really meant no disrespect to Nash. I just was making a joke towards that post from crazysupra2jz. I have grown acustomed to Nashman, but I have no idea what that post was about. Nashman I CAN figure out and have no problem with his intelligence.

hahaha I was thinking the same thing... however if you look at his post history they're all pretty good, then you see a post in "Who's drunk right now?" followed by the one in this thread. Mystery solved :biglaugh:
