you can still get into the automotive industry and start school while you are in the service but it would take a little longer to accomplish. I think you will be much happier if you stick it out and retire after 20yrs. especially with that check every month (enough to cover your morgage payment).

Hey Mike,

I pretty much made up my mind that I'm staying for the full 20. I'm a lifer, no doubt about it. It does get harder, though, as rank and responsibility increase. Life was much easier for me at Dover, but my current job is good, too. I've learned a lot more about myself over the last year than I thought I would. Also, if you talk to guys like Harwood (FCC at Dover), he builds Harleys in his off time when not flying missions. There were several engineers in my squadron who also had race cars and the like. Guys like SMSgt Kennedy and TSgt Jacobs were really cool dudes and had some nice drag cars....

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Now, I am the squadron DIFM monitor [I track all parts from supply that are in maintenance], I handle the equipment account, the land-mobile radios, the tool accountability system, and I am the supply liaison. They are mostly paperwork jobs, and I don't particularly enjoy them. I spend most of my time during the day correcting other people's paperwork mistakes and hauling parts to the backshop for repair on a pallet-jack in the Florida heat. :thumbsdow

yup, its nice not really having any responsibilities right now :icon_cool its a fun job and i enjoy it, the u-2 has alot of history behind it, and it is very laid back here at beale, its a small base,

and im sorry that you work in support, thats gotta suck, ours here isnt that great either, just a bunch of unhappy voluntees

are any of you guys goin to vegas this year, it would be nice to meet you guys
