To becoming a firefighter! I just recieved a letter from the Division of Human Resources in my county saying that I passed my written test in the firefighter recruit application process. I now have to attend an orientation that will get me familiar with the Canidate Physical Aptitude Test (CPAT) on Feb.10th. I don't know when the test will actually be administered, as the department likes to take it one step at a time and doesn't tell you when the next step is until you pass the prerequesites*sp* Wish me luck and I'll try to remember to update this thread when I can. Wish me luck!

da89soup- I'm hoping it will be! Its been good to my dad! I'm applying in a different county as my dad, but my county is having a huge growth spirt! The FD has grown in paid FireFighters like 300% in 2 years.

I know in this area right now becoming a FF is a bitch, there were some 3000 applications for just a few openings all over the Bay.

that's cool. i think most of the smaller fire departments around here are volunteer. can't imagine 3000 apps for a couple positions.

I though about going out to CA to become a forest fire fighter, its still an option, but I think I might looking into becoming an airport fireman at Dulles or BWI.

good luck man. I know in the uk theres usually thousands of applications for just a few positions. they apparently sift through applications and bin loads for things like bad handwriting etc just to whittle them down

WHOOOOOTTTT!!!!!!!! I got a letter in the mail today (finally)!!!!!!!!!!!! Offering me a job with the Frederick County(MD) Department of Fire and Rescue!!!! http://www.co.frederick.md.us/index.asp?NID=24 Now I just have to make it through a psych evaluation, stress test and a drug test!! Then I will be starting the academy! I'm so psyched!!!!!
