I'm sorry for the double post but I just saw this picture - posted while I was typing my other response.

You spent $20K and your car looks like THAT?!? DUDE! What the F were you buying? A diamond encrusted shift knob? WOAH!

I'm guessing that if you spend money the same way on a Mustang it will look no better.

I don't mean to hate or be negative here but WOW! Let's take a trip on the reality train for a second.

I'd love to see pics of your Mustang when it gets done though.

If you want to buy something and have it grow in value then a car (any car) is not - I'll say this again NOT - the correct path. Buy a house, get some property, buy gold or diamonds but do not try to convince yourself that dumping any amount of money into a car is going to make it appreciate. You will NEVER get that money back out of a car unless you are REALLY lucky and find someone really stupid.

Don't believe me?

Take a look on ebay. Ending on Feb 11 is a 67 Mustang Fastback. The seller has already lowered his reserve and the current bidding is at $68,100. Buy it now is only $82,500.

That seems great doesn't it (considering the car brand new was <$10,000.

Read the body of the listing.

"We have over $100,000 in the car at this point SEE list ( I have all reciepts and pictures to back up every thing written."

Hmmm... Even if he got the full buy it now price that still looks like a loss to me.

Don't get me wrong. I love old classic Mustangs - restored. If this choice makes you happy then do it.

But do NOT try to convince us that the reason you are dumping the Supra and going to a Mustang is because the Mustang will appreciate in value.

?? lol Im leaving the supra b/c i lost interested... thats the complete fact im not gonna argue, a pointless arguement i dont care about, SOrry i came in here to tell everyone im leaving and getting a different car, lol

but IDK how the dude spent 100K on it, i wont be spending half the amount, Getting it tanked, make sure theres no rust at all, i still have that paint in my that i WAS goign to use for my supra, I do all the work myself and my brother Does the bodywork (what he does for a living) and paints it, Im not gonna keep it Original, i want Power under the hood, so i can gaurentte you i wont spend more then 25K, and the mustang will be Fully done, new wrapped interior, new glass, all bolts(they make completel bolt/nut kits for them) Big block V8 etc etc you get the Jist, the only labor i pay for the car will be machine work and the dude who rewrapps everything

Good luck with the new project, most people will move on eventually, come back with pics sometime.

But Keith's right, All cars depreciate, unless you're buying a classic with under 1,000 miles or something, and keep it in a garage under a cover for 30 years, maybe then you could sell it to a collector and make some money.

I'm sorry, I just don't see $20k well spent in that picture.LOL!!! BTW I've seen many mkIV's not only sustain but double and more in value. So don't crap on SUPRAS, as mustangs were more common than the chevette and as with any build if the #'s don't match you don't recoup anyway. I agree with keith. If your worry about recouping get out and buy a parkinglot for everyone to park their SUPRAS on.lol!!!
