Not paper? Damn technology... :) I actually did a search and found a thread from almost exactly one year ago where I was asking about the AEM before buying it... Its pretty cool that alot of the same guys answering here were answering in my other thread...

I love this community!

It's been almost 2 years since I played with mine, but my box came with both a CD and a paper manual (more like a pamphlet). If I recall correctly, the pinouts were on the bottom left of one of the inside pages (and it may have continued to the top right)

i looked at the pinout for the 1130 for 89s and 1110 for 87-88 and they are of course in different pins.

boost control 12b
o2#1 w/b 1c
ait 8c
map ground 13c this is a sensor ground and am not sure if i should use it
switch grnd 15c this is ls#7 i used to lite up a lite when hi/lo is on
hi./lo switch 19c is switch #4 to turn on hi/lo boost
+5v reference 2-1 voltage for sensors that need 5V
map sensor 2-5 0-5v input for map. most inportant sensor you have.

i think that is what a 87-88 pin out would need.

do you have to ground the map sensor wire to the ecu or to the chasis? i used sensor ground which is a dedicated pin. it seems to work but i was wondering if it is correct. i used in my 89+ (1990) pin 4c. is that correct or acceptable?

The first thing I did was pin out every wire on the harness and figure out where it goes. I have a more modified application with a 2jzge harness and a 2jzgte AEM but you should be able to figure out all the wires in one afternoon pretty easily..

If you have any questions about what a wire does, just type in the name of the wire that corresponds with the pin #(read your PDF) on the EMS forum search block. For example, search for "sensor ground" and it will tell you all sorts of things about that/those pins regardless of specific application.

Sorry, I don't get over here too much anymore. It looks like you've got some decent help already. For the latest version of the software and manuals download it from the AEM forum instead of using the CD that came with it.

For the guy that wanted to know what kind of injector makes a difference, it is because of the battery offset. Different designs and sizes have different response curves relative to voltage. This has a very direct effect on A:F for a given load and rpm vs. pulse width.

Hey jake,

If you bought the AEM from Titan, Sean can e-mail you several tunes. These you can down load into your AEM to get you closer to a goal then the basic start up tune.

Couple of things.

AEM supports wideband but not directly (wideband tied right into the ECU). Need a "translator" box. As was stated before, innovative, PLX, FJO and any other wideband "unit" works well for this.

the AIT mounting. If you are using the GM AIT. placement is real critical as it is a brass unit. In an FFI in the MKIII, it is not that great idea to place it close to the TB. Reason is the hot air coming from the radiator. You WILL affect the true ambient reading. This is not an issue with composite based sensors like the Bosch units.

and just for you and everyone else.

The pinout assignments as they come from AEM (for the 30-1110 ONLY!!!)

werd.. my gm one got heat soaked all the time.. read a constant 100* and creeped to 110 ish when idle..

Just get a basemap setup form sean or other poeple on here and play around with it. If your not going to self tune that much no need to dive into to much, but just set o2 feedback on with like +- 20% and itll drive pretty decent.. Maybe take some time and tune the idle per the manual.. a tip that I found when I kept have a lot of stalling issues on engine breaking comming up to lights.. keep the idle feedback max rpm the same as the decel fuel cut min rpm.. mine kept learning - duty while engine breaking and would stall when I released the clutch.. Idled like a champ after i fixed it

I need to get aem to control my boost.. one day i'll set up that.. aem is an awesome tool... i love mine.. soo much fun to play around with.. only dislike is having to turn off the car to pull the internal log :(

Yeah, same here, I know the vacuum line routing, but as for the wiring I am unsure. I would love to hava switch so that when the 12V is going to the boost solenoid, I use the boost setting in the AEM, but if I flip the switch off, I run wastgate.

Jake, are you using an 89+ harness? or 87-88? You may have posted it, but I didn't see it. I have the wire colors written down somewhere at the shop.

So should I put my AIT sensor right past the IC?

Thanks for the pin out pic...

Doc B, Im using an 87 harness...

If I recall i seen some people put it a foot after the IC outlet. Keep it away from the heat the radiator pumps out. :)
