If you want a turbo Supra, then get one from the start unless you plan on swapping a completely different motor in the NA(1J, 2J, etc) or the NA is extremely clean. That's my belief.

Otherwise, just get yourself a 7M-GTE Supra from the start. You know what you want, try not to settle for less.

Your LS/Vtec swap is probably way faster than most (if not all) N/A Supras, and probably faster than some of the slower Turbo Supras. :)

I would get a Turbo from the start or swap a gte in. I first got a GE and couldn't stand it. Sold it and got a Turbo and its 20x more fun.

:biglaugh:, Oh my Goodness, you're terrible...But you're almost right. :biglaugh:

No, honestly, I've seen a healthy NA Supra beat an LS/Vtec Civic hatch with all the bolt-ons...So, I'm not *so* sure about that.

Welcome to the Supra (More importantly, Toyota), Community.

You'll like it. :)

Issues you deal with are MUCH different than Hondas...but it always weighs out to be worth it with the final product in the end. :)

As Joe said, If you want turbo, don't settle for less, start off on the right side of the bed...Or you'll be asking for problems (extra money spendings) in the future.

Good luck!

hey hey now, my litle 2000 pound car works over alot of cars, nothing but nothing beats running a 2.5 60ft. LOL, and stil busting out bottom 14s. and my cars has a stock header still. ok enough about hondas. this isnt a honda site. damn it.

alright, well the car is super clean super clean. thats the opnly reason why i am looking into the car. and it is a targa top. the plan was to throw inthe gte harness and ecu and what not to do the tirbo conversion, then if i liked the car. which i most likey will since i miss the old conquest. then i would leave the car alonme mostly then start to find a motor and start a decent build on it. nothing to stupid but enough to get the job done. im not looking for 700whp car. i will be happy runnuing mid to low 13s since these cars love highways thats were i will be

Really? Cool! I was just supporting the Anti-N/A crowd that's everywhere. Haha.

Welcome to Supramania. I don't want to bash on your hondas even though you're making a smart move converting, but I don't care how fast a honda is.......there's no comparrison between the looks of a MKIII and a honda. My neighbor has an accord with a big wing on it and he loves it. He keeps talking to me about helping him install a turbo and I'm all for it. If I can help him, I will, but he'll still have a fast ugly ass'd car when we're done. Just my two cents worth.

As stated already........dont' buy a car until you find one you really like. Their are plenty of supras out there for sale. Good luck.

Welcome, Im glad to see your getting out of hondas. Once you own a supra u never want to selttle for anything less, expecailly a honda. The best thing to do is just save up a decent amount of cash for a clean turbo supra instead of an NA or like what onejoezee said just find a good deal on a clean na just swap it over to a 2jz or 1jz , its up to you and what you want to do.

Don't let the n/a haters fool ya. :) The n/a can be a lot of fun, and responds well to upgrades. No, it's not anywhere near the same as the turbo model, but it can be pretty quick. My brother drives a lightly modded '96 T/A, and has to work to get around my 87 n/a. He can't hang in the curves, either. Most domestic guys are pretty impressed when they find out it's not a turbo. Honda's aren't even a good race anymore.
You can always upgrade to the turbo when you get bored, especially if you plan on building one anyway. You can get the necessary gte parts in the for sale section pretty often, you just have to make sure you get the correct year model ecu and harness. I paid less than $500 for everything necessary off a gte except the turbo, manifold, and intercooler.

a motor is a motor regardless of cylinders.

Increase the efficency of breathing on it and you gain power. THis is for either a honda, hyundai, toyota etc. ;)

SO anything that you did to your past motor will help with the I6.
