it's not illegal to do ANYTHING to your car... are you trying to tell me it's illegal to put gas in it? illegal to change your plug wires or oil? come on man hehehe

but that "bullshit" 22" headlight law isn't such bullshit when you're getting blinded by some asshat with his headlights pointing directly in your rearview mirror.

but seriously, California is retarded. I would never move there by choice, EVER. Even if I had a million dollars and could pay cops off. What a bunch of bullshit going on in that state.

Countless times I was pulled over in Florida, and didn't have a cat or EGR, and the police didn't know/care. It's my car and I'll do what I damn well please to it (within reason of course).

ok, ok. what i meant to say was its illegal to do any mods to your car. shesh! lol but i already know about headlights in my rear view. i found that out the first day i owned the car. already had springs on it when i bought it. but then you also have the jack asses that turn their brights on just because they know their lights are in your mirror. lots of those jerk offs in riverside atleast. god damn bro central!

Here in AB, there's not a lot of laws regarding modifications, and if they are, they're not enforced. There are so many japanese imports around here, it's hard to punish for having no EGR and stuff like that. There's no emissions checks on any vehicle, just a one-time safety inspecton if it was brought in from out of province (possibly another safety check upon change of ownership if your insurance company wants), and it's pretty hard to fail the safety check.

Tecnically, it's illegal to have an exhaust with larger pipe diameter the stock, but they rarely enforce it. "Uh sir, I think the exhaust on your skyline is bigger then stock...". I've revved to 7k in front of police and not gotten pulled over, with a 4.5" tip, although it's not THAT loud.

There's a few civics around here that complain about exhaust tickets, but they're just tickets, not "fix-it" tickets.

There are also quite a few cars with full roll cages in them, so I would assume they're either legal, or not enforced.

I don't think that should realy be an illegal mod as it only help with your safety.

umm in reality the correct answer it depends.

a SYSTEM. Roll CAGE might make the car safer if and ONLY if you have have a harness AND a helmet. The bar by the upper left side of your head is very unforgiving to your knoggin tapping it during a crash and beleive me that bar up there is close enough to crack your head wide open easily.

and thats why some states say if you have a roll cage it must have pads on it. But I still dont understand whys harnesses are concitered illegal in some states esp if they are installed right.

you think an inch of padding is going to help? that padding is to cushion the helmet hitting it not you head ;)

sounds like a dream to live in! ;)

That's not what I meant. She(and others) make it sound like it's completely impossible to live in CA and enjoy your car.

I drive my car 250-300 miles a week. The only time I've had issues with cops and illegal things on my car is when I was doing something else stupid, like speeding.

I realize some people aren't as lucky and get hassled alot... but more often than not, most of the stories I hear about people getting shit for mods on their car was coupled with something else that could have been avoided like speeding or no front plate.

Sure, there's things that should change but complaining online about it won't do anything.
