im guessing youve got a JZA70, and your tranny is on its way out? THe bell housing is different, but you can get one on here. Other than that the tranny will work, same clutch and everything

the tranny is slipping? are you sure its not just your clutch?? If you end up with the car, youll need a 1JZ bellhousing, its a genuine toyota part, should cost around $359 new if i remember correctly.

But he has a 1jz already so all he would need to do is take the bellhousing off the excisting tranny that he has on the car. And bolt it up to 7m tranny. Also OP you didn't mention if the 7m was na. They come with different trannys(w58) that aren't as strong as the turbo models(r154).

Also as mentioned above make sure its not your clutch.

now that you say it, it seems so obvious. Most definatly, why waste the money.

no, an automatic does not have a clutch. It would have a tourqe converter.

Both JZA70's (jdm) and MA70 (usdm, TURBO) us an R154 transmission, so yes it will bolt right on, so long as you take the 7M bellhousing off first :p

oh so your looking to do a 5 speed swap. Ive never done one, but the search function on this forums works wonders. Many other members have done the swap. Im not sure how many have done it on a JZA70. Dont hold me to this, but as i recall, ive seen members selling a "5 speed swap" which includes pedels, and everything eles you would need

Its too bad, I had a JZA70 that i used for a parts car, and i would have had EVERYTHING that you will be needing. But, like i said, use the search and you will find all the anwsers your looking for.

yes a 6 speed from a mkiv would work. But your looking at about $3500 US to buy the tranny itself, and thats used.

Yea thats what I figured ... so since my car is an auto would my bellhousing still work with a r154?? would I have to make new mounts to hold the trans or will it just bolt into to the auto ones?? thanks again for the help man its greatly appreciated..

i dont think the auto trannys have a bellhousing. To do the 5 speed swap, youll need a R-154 from a JZA70 or buy a R-154 from a MA70 and 1JZ bellhousing

would a rhd shift pattern be the mirror of a lhd shift pattern? reading from left to right, top to bottom: lhd: 1-3-5 - 2-4-R, rhd: 5-3-1 - R-4-2?

Heh, its the same.

To answer your question though. you'll need:
flywheel and bell housing for a 1jz r154
7m or 1jz clutch kit
master and slave cylinder and the lines
r154 driveshaft
clutch pedal and matching brake pedal

You will have to jump the neutral start switch on the auto transmission harness as well, but otherwise your ECU and harness will work fine with a 5spd.
On lhd supras, the firewall is actually perforated in the spot where the pedal and master cyl mount, so this may also be true for rhd cars. You will probably need a pedal set from a rhd car, and a longer clutch line than the lhd supra has too.

Sorry I can't help you with a thread at the moment, any threads out there are probably for lhd cars anyhow.
