Where does the ignitor get its power source? It looks as though (on the online TSRM) that it comes directly from the ECM - is this correct?

I do not have anywhere near 12v on the power line of the ignitor, and I'm doing some diagnosing of the problem :)

iirc yes it does if you mean ecu ;)
if i am wrong anyone please feel free to correct me as i havent used a standard ecu or wiring loom for 7 years

trace the wire back it could be a break in the wire or just a bad earth

It's a black orange wire (ig2) for switched power to it through the engine harness. The same wire powers the 12v input of the fuel injectors and ignition coils. The signals from the ecu to the ignitor are separate from the power source. Could be a bad key switch if everything else checks out ok. Never seen that part of a key switch go bad myself though.

Yep, looking at my own TSRM for the 1987 Supra, I can see that the black/orange wire that is supposed to feed 12v to the ignitor is SEPERATE from the ECM (or ECU, whatever you guys prefer :p) I see the ignition switch actually has 2 arms in it - the 2nd controls the switched power to the ignitor and all.

*sigh*

I suppose the next step will be to locate the ignition switch, and verify 12v is present there - and check continuity in the wire (I don't really want to undo all the wiring, and re-loom it all) :(
