Ignition Tumbler Removal??

Hey everyone, i just picked up an 89 turbo, but the owner couldn't find the keys to it. We were able to get it on the trailer, but when we took it off, the steeringwheel locked and now i can't move it. Can anyone PM me instructions on how to remove the tumbler assembly so i can get some keys made?? NEED HELP ASAP!! :cry:

remove passenger side door tumbler.

take to dealer. have keys made.

only real option. the ignition tumbler will not come off unless there is a key present in the acc position.

Damn...no wonder i was having such a hard time with it hahah....and that's what i was afraid of after some research, so i guess i'll have to remove the door trim and get the pass lock out to take in to a locksmith. Thanks for the info and reply!

In the past, I've had new keys made at a dealer before. I just brought in a copy of my title (to verify ownership and provide vehicle information), and they were able to cut a new key using the VIN number. It only cost about $10 for the key, which I'm sure was a lot cheaper than going to a locksmith.

It may be worth a call to your local Toyota dealership, to see if they could do the same for you.

I'm pretty sure the old styles aren't available through the dealer anymore w/o the key code, which means they can't look it up by the VIN.
