Hello all. Does everyone's key come out of the ignition cylinder at any position or is it just me? I've tried 2 different ones and they both do the same thing. Anyone able to fix this it's annoying to me. Thanks

It's relatively common. Two factors cause this - key / lock cylinder wear, and the actual key design.

It can be fixed, but only by swapping in a different / new lock cylinder, and using an appropriately new key.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing, I love the function personally but wasn't sure if Toyota actually made it like that. My 87, my friends 89, my old 85 Camry, buddies 85 Corolla and his two 80's pick ups do this so it made me think it was intentional, guess not.

Mine does it too, I kinda like it. Especially if I've forgotten something in the house and already have the car running.

I use the function instead of command start on a really cold day, go out start it leave the club on and lock the door, maybe turn the park lights on to enhance the illusion of command start.
