If you're an mk3 owner: How do you respond when someone says, "It's just not a mk4"

1990 MKIII... Por que?

I had a 2005 RX-8 GT 6spd. Bad A$$ ride. Not very fast per say (only 238hp), but the styling was superb.

Loved everything about it except the sluggish low end and poor gas mileage.

Just a random year. I think my 86.5 would work just fine. I actually prefer the full grill.
Your rx8 was actually the color combo I like lol.

And hey, There wouldnt have even been an MK4 if not for the MK3. I love my car more then just about anything. (Sorry Im still catching up with the thread but wanted to add) My next door neighbor has a 93 N/A Supra targa. And youd be surprised how often, kids riding there bikes/cars driving by, will either slow down or take pics of BOTH our cars. Though the most respect from others on the road Ive gotten have been from bikers, people in Toyota's, and the obvious 80's-90's enthusiasts all giving thumbs up. Even the occasional honda :p. Im lucky enough to not have had anyone be "disappointed" in the fact thats its an MK3. *Knocks on wood*

I didnt read all of it but i prolly would have asked him why he drives a rx8 when rx7's are soo much better and faster.

I guess the easiest way to respond to someone whos like "Ugh well why dont you have the MK4" would be to say, "Well why did you spend $6000 on your honda when you couldve bought an MK3?". Cause thatll inevitably, what a person who says that, drives.

Eh thats kind apples to oranges. Rx8 is a newer, slower, uglier version of the rx7.

and yet.. I happen to think RX8 is better looking than RX7.

I was 1000% pleased with every single aspect of the RX8 styling, inside and out. It was super awesome.

But yes... slower than the RX7 TT. They do make turbo kits for RX8 though. 350-400hp very doable.

Yeah, I gotta ask, has anyone else noticed how the s2000 has become the new mid life crisis car? It used to be a Shelby Cobra (not the mustang atrocity, the real one). Now they all drive S2000's.

I'll man up and admit it, I bought the MKIII as a place holder for the IV...originally. My dad saw it sitting in a field and it looked like my 86 RX7 that I had at the time (nice style, terrible car) he texted me while I was in class (HS) and asked "what's a Supra?" I responded with "buy it!!!" and for the rest of the day visions of rounded bubble bodied rolling jelly beans filled my head. Well I was really disappointed in when I got an '87 NA lol. But the look grew on me so much over the next 5 years that, after I got blown up on deployment, I started looking for another MKIII with an auto. I missed mine so much that I had to find another and I did and drove to SC to get it. Even with $50,000 in insurance money, the MKIII was what called to me way more than the 4 ever could. So when asked "why not get a MKIV?" I respond with "and look like every high schooler whose parents have too much money? I'll stick to something with some class" :)

I have been told my car isnt a Supra before... Kids exact words were "Hey, your car says Supra on the back, but its not a Supra. What is it?" I said "It is a Supra, its just an old Supra." I have also had a few people ask why I put a 1UZ in that only has 209 whp... When I tell them its what I wanted to do they act confused... When ever people try to tell me how I should have done my car or what I should change, I just nod and say "yea, I can see what your saying." If its a legitimate idea then I will take it into consideration. Most of the time its not worth trying to convince people I have my car the way I want it.

But for the most part, I get nothing but love for my Supra. I get a lot of "nice car man!" and "nice Supra!" I get more, "What engine do you have in that thing!?!?!?" I don't pay any mind to the people who cant respect the MKIII, and I listen and respect the the people who do!

Nothing will top the Corvette as the mid-life crisis-mobile though.
So true. You can always spot them with the top down, windows up, wearing baseball caps. Lol.

I either have people that love or hate my car. Those that know Supra's show it a great deal of respect.

Yeah, where I live, newer mustangs and corvettes are the new rice. You see the Hondas and such, but they are generally pretty tastefully modified. There is one 2000 mustang where the guy (who has to be in his 60's) took the front end from a 60's shelby cobra and put it on the front half of the mustang. What sucks most is you see it drivjng towards you and it brightens your day because it is an old cobra. Then it passes you and you see the entire failed abortion of a car and want to stick daggers in your eyes.

Mk4 I think don't look as good as mk3s. I seen alot more mk4 supra around my area that are done cheaply. eBay body kits and all that. Y buy a 25,000 dollar car and put eBay shit on it doesn't make sense they want to make them look like f&f cars... Now when there done right and classy not to flashy there beautiful kinda like the mk3 when done wrong it doesn't look right and alot more people do it the wrong way and flashy f&f way then there done simple there beautiful.

Mk3 and mk4 are beautiful when done right. I will get a mk4 one day and park it side by side next to the mk3. But I don't see myself selling my mk3 to buy a mk4 to much work I put into it but I would snatch one up if I had one more bay on my garage lol.

I just hate when people compare the mk4 and mk3 there made for different purposes so there should be no comparing same name but different cars
