Ok even after I fixed my timing on my car the car starts, idles around 750 or so (its advanced 14*) but after driving even a few feet, idles back to 900 - 1000, and then after about 10 mins of driving stays around 900.... stilll... so I was running the car here at work at idle and i pulled off the TPS plug....NOTHING happened.... at all... it just stayed at 1000, plugged it in, nothing.... does this mean my TPS is bad or is there something else causing this problem?

dont have a multimeter... thought what I did was a dead give away.... lol

Yup, something's wrong... ;)

It's indicative of a faulty IDL switch in the TPS, but without proper testing I'm not going to say that's it... It could be a problem with the harness connector, the harness, the ECU and so on.

<sarcasm>Oh, just say "the hell with it"! No one who works on these cars makes sure they're completely sound and without problems before they start trying to make big power.</sarcasm>

Seriously though, just go pickup a cheap multimeter at Home Depot or Radio Shack, even a $10 MM is better than just throwing parts at an old car. ;) I'd recommend getting a better MM down the road, but a cheapie will do just fine for right now.

Alrighty Ill do that, thanks man you've answered alot of questions for me lately, I really appreciate it. I have another regarding this however, how bad in the long run is a bad TPS? Also will it contribute to small vibrations in idle.

How bad depends on the extent of the problem.

There are a hundred things that can cause irregularities in the idle.

Just get a multimeter and test the TPS first. Test the calibration too, it may simply need a little tweaking with a feeler and multimeter to bring it back to spec. You might find that fixing this only takes a $10 multimeter and a $3.99 feeler.

Feeler gauges I have at work, we MIGHT have a mm, Im gonna ask tomorrow when I go in, we closed early today so no ones up there. After I check those, if its neither, how would I test my ECU for this problem? lol I see masses of money coming through... Oh also, I know i have vibrations from my fan missing a blade, but would that throw off idle too?

Ack, running a fan with a missing blade! <gasp> I suppose it could contribute to the car feeling rough, especially when the oscillations are at a lower frequency and the engine's trying to run with as little power as possible. I'm not 100% sure though, it's not something I've ever (or would ever) tried.
