If i leave the heater off, it will heat up faster, right?

lol...ok that title is a bit oxymoron, but it makes sence once you know what i'm asking about;

After reading up a bit on heater cores, and their various methods of heating air, i was wondering if someone can tell me how ours work, specifically.

I was wondering because I wanted to make sure that when I drive to school in the morning, leaving my heater off, that I am in fact speeding up the process toward hot air. so i guess i'm more of asking weather or not i'm correct....

i guess it would be kinda hard for it not to be...but i figured i'd check...

Your engine will heat up faster, but no coolant will be flowing through the heater core, so it will remain cold. AFAIK anyways.

During cold starts, the Heater VSV is closed, so even if you have the heater set to 85, no coolant is flowing through the heater core...

So no, it won't help it warm up faster.

yeah i wasnt sure if it was just a constant flow or a valved system.
