welding is always better. less failure points. but you can always just cut and use couplers. depends on the routing you take and the amount of couplers you have to how well that method will work for you.

also, get a chop saw! i got a cheapy one from harbor freight for $50 (normally $99 but often on sale). i couldnt tell you how many pipes from 2.5" to 4" it has cut. everything from alum to mild steel to stainless has been cut with no problems. heck we are still on our first disc even!

here is a pic of the first set of pipes made. used various mandrel bends, cut to fit, then welded together. it isnt hard, just takes time, patience, and more time.

Yeah but no point in getting a chop saw if I'll have to take it somewhere for welding!

I really do want to learn to weld though...

I've spent about 1/2 the amount on tools as I have on the rest of the supra since my project began!

tack welded into place using a lincoln welder. then took to buddy to tig weld it. altho some of the welds i did myself that werent gonna be in the engine bay. me<him

if you want to get into welding you need a decent quality mig welder. they still arent cheap, but you can get something pretty decent for ~$1k new or less if you find used.
