So I'm having problems with my ic popping off around 14psi. Why is this?
I'm using t clamps.
It's happened twice so far. One time it just came off a coupling, the second time the whole pipe flew out from my car. I scared the guy next to me.lol
But anyways, what can I do to keep it from happening again?
Before I was at 10psi and it was ok. But when I turned it up is when It happened.
I've got a spearco ic. With 2.5 ic pipes. I'm running 3 in downpipe back as well. Yes I kno I need 3 in turbo back. I bought a cooleze 3in elbow back downpipe and should be here Saturday.
Other mods are 57trimct 26, 560inj with Lexus Afm and apexi air filter. Stage 2 act clutch with fidanza flywheel. Turbo timer. Hallman pro boost controller right now until I can figure out how to use the hks evc6. Lol

Are your pipes bead rolled?
If so, are you positioning the clamps in the proper place to hold the couplers against the rolled beads? (The clamps have to be right next to the rolled bead, but not on top of it. Can be tricky to position properly, but it's worth the time and effort to get it right)

Are you using quality T-bolt clamps?
If so, are they the proper size for the couplers?

If any of those are answered 'no' then fix it and move down the list. I've held 26psi on non-rolled pipes, but with good quality T-bolt clamps and good tension (read: very tight).

I'm sure there are a lot of things that can cause the pipes to blow off, but these are the ones I've run into the most.

Yes the pipe is rolled. The t clamps I'm using is the ones that came with the ic kit. So I would also assume they are the right size. But quality of clamps... No idea. I would say junk if it makes my pipe come off.
Also how could I bead roll the spearco ic outlet? Its just straight.

is this where it is slipping off of? have a small bead welded onto the edge...in 2 or 3 places?

It came off there the 2nd time and completely lost the pipe. The first time it just came off another coupling, just hung there

04 has the right idea- find a shop who can weld aluminum and have 'em lay a bead down the edge of the IC fitting!

Then brother it sounds to me like you need 2 things.....
1. As stated above, have a bead welded onto the IC inlet and outlet.
2. Throw those pos t-clamps in the trash and get some quality ones.
I had the same issue you are having when I put my T70 on. Then I realized the clamps are some remake china shit. So, I broke down and spent a few $$ on each one.....I was running 18 psi on the T70 and not a single pipe came loose. Take the advise given, save some cash up and get the good clamps. Until then, turn the boost down a bit, and drive on....Just make sure you have a spare clamp, and sockets in the car until the good ones arrive.

Assuming your ic kit is from drift, mine is also a drift kit and i hold 20 psi all day, as stated above position the clamps right and don't be scared to tighten them down. You won't pop another one.

Cheap t-clamp will strip and won't hold. Real quality clamp very tight, properly positionned on oil less pipe will do wonder

Try using hairspray, I garantee if you clean the oil off, use hairspray, and quality t-bolts your IC pipes will never come loose.

Hair spray is an old trick for putting on New dirt bike grips :)
