bj, fact is there aren't many kits for out cars, i bought mandrel bends from jcwhitney and turbonetics couplers and t-bolt clamps and made a kit with my neighbor welding everykthing for me, i still spent around 300 on that project.

now i have the cooleeze kit that came with couplers and t-bolts, and it was powder coated which is worth 100-200 dollars. they are great kits and i would recomment them.

if you want a big selection on anything for your car get a mkiv or a honda, you can get anything for a honda.

Paying that much for a set of pipes is CRAZY. I bought a $120 kit off of Ebay with all the bends (with rolled edges), 4-ply silicon couplers, and t-bolt clamps. Put that with my $100 fatty intercooler and you have a complete kit for less than $300 and one days work. Add $25 for the BOV flange to be welded on and its still less than $300. It holds 20 psi all day long and looks nice as well.

I just cant see why people pay so damn much for pieces of piping. Just like with my other car, over on the Marauder forums I see fools paying over $200 for a set of 4" chrome tips. 2 CHROME PIPES FOR $200????? Fuck that, I went to the local parts store and bought me the EXACT same thing (full stainless, non-resonated, etc just without the fancy brand name) for $85. I just dont get it.

My IC was almost $500 alone lol.. you guys crack me up with the chinese power shopping

I really laugh when people buy the Blitz Nur-Spec exhaust for the SC300. It's not even cat back. It's just two mufflers for $900.

So it's, "go name brand, or go home."? I can spray paint spearco on the front of my intercooler and get the same results with it as you would with the same thing but coming from the actual company.

sure, but there ARE some much better made products out there as well...

there is a difference between going after bargains and just being cheap...

Yeah...some guys spend alot of money and buy brand name parts and put out less power than those bargain shoppers.

I think Ron, Duane, Ian and other guys with alot of hp made their own intercooler piping.

It all comes down to buying the right stuff and having the skills do make it work.

Cheers,
Roy

If you're getting ready to buy it, make sure Greg Pickett (owner) knows the specific year supra you are putting it on as he has two different models, my cousin made that mistake when he bought his :3d_frown:

Im a penny pincher. I always look for a way to save a few bucks. Its hurt me in the past too. Im trying to break out of that thinking. However, for something that is just an air pipe? I say go cheap. I too bought a kit off ebay with 2mm thick aluminum pipes, bead rolled with reinforced silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps. I had to cut a few pieces so I lost the bead roll on a couple connections, but its taken up to 18lbs so far with zero blowoffs. If I could TIG I would have done it, but what I have works fine. The whole kit cost me less than $200 and I sold my left overs for about $80.

I also cant see spending big money for an intercooler. I mean its not like its some super high tech item. Its an air to air passive radiator, not exactly rocket science.
