Glad you got it fixed! Did you fix the charging issue? I suspect that is what caused the rheostat to burn out to begin with, luckily that's all that happened, electronics don't like high voltages. As far as the dome lights, pull the cover off and give each of the rivets a good hit with a punch/hammer, might be a good idea to remove the unit from the roof first and do it on the bench, but those contacts tend to vibrate and come loose over time.

I am thinking its probably the alternator like others have already suggested. I did buy it used simply cause it was from a 1J. I am debating on getting a re-manufactured Alternator from Driftomotion. I guess my question is the 200 amp really THAT much better than the 100?

The verdict is in.

CiFy6 was the first to correctly diagnose the issue. Found a Rheostat in the junkyard today while replacing my wifes camry hood (found one same color LUCKY).

Replaced the Rheostat and PRESTO. Dimmer, Gauges, Climate Control all work great now.

I guess the only remaining issue is my Dome lights when clicked on dont come on but when door is open they work fine.

Thanks to everyone for the input/suggestions... I'm really starting to think I should just read through the WHOLE TSRM like a book.

No joke, the term is actually pretty neat. I will spend some of my breaks at work reading it. The system descriptions and wiring diagrams are great. You can understand how virtually everything in the car works.

Between the tsrm, tewd and epc you have virtually all the info you'd need to build a mk3 from scrap parts and understand what nearly everything does and why Toyota put it there.

Maybe I'm just a nerd... Lol

Hahaha... Nerd... I don't think so ENTHUSIAST is the word you're looking for. ;) Trust me, i actually envy the knowledge i'm sure you have. I really do need to read through the whole thing and that will probably help me on a lot of questions and headaches i sometimes deal with.

Hey man, this doesn't have to do with your problem but I really really would like to know the color of your car.

haha ;) well that IS the money question isnt it? lol

Nah, its TOTALLY custom a mix of a ton of different paints a couple slight pearls I LOVE the color and how it came out. we seriously just mixed it together took a look in the can that looks SICK, and sprayed it on the car. in certain lighting it almost has a kinda deep green pearl.

I am working on getting a Paint Code for it or the absolute closest match that i can.

Photobucket Link so you can see the Before and After. and some better close ups.
