Yea I would go either right behind the front tire or right in front of the rear tire. I would say to do 2 both for ground clearance and symmetry. Also the Roush mustangs run something similar and it doesnt corrode their rear tires, right?

id think that you'll have enough air being pulled over your car to dilute the exhaust so it doesn't have any ill effects on the tires. maybe im missing something with the rubber compound, but at 60mph i wouldn't think your tire would be getting 100% of the exhausted gases and temps.

Thats what I would think. Plus its not like its pointed directly at your tire.

bingo. and in the winter you can just take a crowbar and bend the whole thing down near the point of contact between the rear tire and the road, melting the snow and heating the tire tread.

the more gas you give it, the more traction you get!

If it was good enough for toyota racing then it's good enough for me! I love their style of pipework tho. I prefer it; cut, cut, weld, cut, weld, cut cut weld. I prefer that over smooth bends. The cut way looks so cool!

simple.
1. pipe is set into a bending jig
2. they insert something into the pipe, someone will say what this is I forget what it's called. It stops the pipe from rippling when they bend it by keeping pressure on the pipe walls.
3. then the hydraulic rod pushes the die and the pipe bends. You can also to it manually with a lever that you bend a bit, then readjust, then bend, then adjust etc...

EDIT:
Here;'s some cool diagrams to show how it works.

the machines are VERY expensive tho :p

well, i checked the ground clearance on the driver's side, and there're definitely enough...i'm not doing 5" piping. lol. but what i did notice was that the heat might do alittle melting away on it's own, so i'm thinking HEAT SHIELD to protect my undercarriage. but i'd like to try both sides first before doin just the passenger side, just to get matching sides, but i'm goin to take my time and get it to look right and try not to get burned everytime i step out of my car...lol

how about you recess the tips?

take a chunk out and make it a flush mounted exhaust with the bottom of the car, then line that with a bit of carbon fiber so you don't blacken the paint.

here comes a MS paint pic!

Side Pipe would shit me to tears as it's too short to get decent mufflers into and being RHD it's be in my ear ;)
(ran dual 4" sidepipes on my old Twin Turbo Toyota V8 240z)

There's a lot more to getting it to work right than just bolting on some pipes.....

I ran the Datsun with a simple single pass baffle that was way too loud and way too short and ended up redesigning the exhausts to a triple pass system that gave me a good noise reduction and stopped the flame show on overrun.
