I just recently completed a HG change on my 7mgte. I put it all back together and she started up beautifully. I proceeded to check the engine codes and what do I have? Code 52, and that is where it all began.

Today I was going to attempt the SOGI KS rewire. I took out the rear knock sensor plug and noticed the knock sensor itself was a bit wobbly. I found it quite odd so I was going to remove it and replace it with another spare KS. So I put a wrench on it barely turned it counterclockwise when the KS just fell straight off.
What happened was the threads that screw the KS in is now STUCK in the block.

I am stumped as to what to do now. HELPS please.

on to the amazing pictures...

hmmmm i seeeee

Do I need to pull out the whole engine just to get that damn thing out?

No. Pull the intake and get yourself a E-Z Out set.
Its a set of taps (like in tap and die set) with counterclockwise twists in them, that when you insert them into a hole, and twist counterclockwise to remove your culprit, the twists on the E-Z Out actually go down like a regular drill bit, providing the bite necessary to remove the object.

This is what I'm talking about:

Go get a set.

Oh, those lovely little suckers. The reviews on that particular set doesn't seem too assuring. I used a set before and it snapped flush in the drilled hole. Caused me one very large headache to fix. Is there a better quality set that I can pick up at a local auto store?

Dunno, you'll just have to take your chances. I prefer NAPA for quality over any other parts store in my area. A hardware store such as Ace would be a last ditch effort.

The ez outs are quite brittle, no impacts allowed.
The size you need to remove the threads of the knocksensor will be hard to break.
Give it a shot.

If you can't find something suitable, you might try to use a flat head and a hammer and 'chisel' at it counterclockwise to get it to spin out.

I don't recommend tack-welding something to the threads as that usually means disaster to the engine, seizing the bearings and crankshaft together or what not. If you must, make your ground as local as possible but do not connect to anything thats supposed to rotate. DONT FORGET TO DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY.

Don't saw/grind at it as you don't want shaving to enter the block and contaminate the oil, oil surfaces and passages and ruin your engine.

The ez out is your best bet.

Spray lots of WD-40 on it, and use a blow torch, then drill and easy out it. If it works on a BROKEN OFF turbo to manifold stud... im sure it'll work on a stuck knock sensor..
