I have an 89t with a newly rebuilt motor. 3" exhaust, 2.5" hardpipes, spearco replica. I just installed an autometer boost gauge. In 3rd gear at 5,000rpm the engine abruptly stops pulling. The gauge says im hitting 11psi when it happens. what could cause this? i dont have a boost controller either.

You're hitting 11psi with just intake and exhaust?? Maybe your wastegate actuator isn't functioning properly? I would check the vac line to the wastegate actuator. Also, fuel cut is normally around 11psi, so that sounds about right.

You can't miss fuel cut...it's rather dramatic and the check engine light will illuminate ;)
With a stock AFM you'll it it at 12 psi +/-

Check for boost leaks in your IC piping.

Yea I'm so in the moment when boost builds up that when fuel cut kicks in I forget to lift my foot off the gas pedal.
