I have a supposed 'Stage II' clutch on the bench. I bought it off of ebay about a year ago and fear that it is one of those painted OEM ones; but, not sure.

I plan on putting down in the neighborhood of 400hp/400tq. Give or take a little. (refer to sig for mod list)

Here are my two questions:

1. What will my supposed 'Stage II'/OEM hold?

2. What do y'all recommend I do? (run my supposed Stage II, run a six puck w/stock pressure plate, run a stage III, etc...)

Thanks...

I dont recommend high-pressure aftermarket clutch plates. They can give you crank walk. As long as your stock flywheel is thick enough and the OEM cluch is in good shape, it will hold a lot of power.

Thanks for the reply p!

What may also be noteworthy is that with whatever clutch I put in, my Fidanza Flywheel goes in with it.

What kind of disk does your "stage 2" have?

Id just go with a Action clutch from Driftmotion or a real high performance clutch if you have doubts.

Not sure. Whatever came with it. I bought it and haven't taken it out of the box yet.

So you all know, I bought a new ACT Stage 2 clutch kit from Driftmotion 2 years ago and it has held up very well (even if I didn't do a full break it like I should have). Up until I fried my clutch a few months ago (it's still driveable, just not launchable) it held very strong. I'm putting down over 310 RWHP and 302 RWTQ right now and the clutch is holding up fairly well.

If you plan on having 400 RWHP, get a clutch kit that is capable of holding more power than that (I'd go with a stage 3 clutch kit since they hold around 500 RWHP). Otherwise you will have to replace your clutch again before too long. If it's within your budget, get a sprung (lighter pedal) twin-disk clutch kit. They are capable of up to 700 RWHP with a very light pedal. I got in a buddies 1.5JZ Cressida and fealt his twin-disk sprung clutch and it was atleast 50% lighter than my stage 2 ACT clutch that is worn down.

Twin disk setups for the 7M are extremely expensive.

I like my Action Stage 3 from driftmotion, I dunno what the comment is about "real" performance clutch though...

That didn't quite sound right.
I wasn't implying driftmotion clutches were bad. I meant for him to get a clutch from a good known clutch company(such as action)...not eBay.

Oh, ok, just wanted to clarify.

Ebay does have decent deals on name brand items, but if it's something important (like a clutch, the fuel system, ect) it's not good to go with non-namebrand stuff off of there.
