LOL, probably would've helped if chevy would have offered a 5spd behind the 5.7. But oh well.

those iroc-z stats are very very close to the supra's stats stock vs stock would be a good run

Don't the late-90's Camaros/Firebird have around 300 HP? 320 with the "ram air" option? Surprisingly, back in 87 it already had 330 lb-ft of tq? So they managed to get almost 100 more HP, yet the TQ is nearly the same.

I've never driven a V8, but would like to.

On top of the auto-only deal, most had 2.77 rear ends. some were 3.27(?). The rear just KILLS the car.

lifesnotfair, The ls1 is a completely different monster...My old firebird has one in it now, the thing FLEW last time I went down to see it. I ran a 175 shot with its old 350, and I thought that was fast.....he's spraying 225 with the ls1...it's nuts.

The reason the HP numbers were so low is because the engines didn't rev. The torque numbers are similar to today's because the torque is still there on the low end, they just make more power now because they breath up top.

If anybody wants to go home with a BIIIIG ego, find a camaro with the L03 305...I have only seen ONE quick one, and it was running 11's with shit tons of mods and a 200 shot.

Ive raced the the late 80's model v-6 version in my n/a. I had rodnock and all the bad stuff wrong with my car at the time. I still managed to pull at least 5+ cars on him up hill. I raced another one a few months later with what sounded like a v-8, he got the jump from the line as i wasnt planning on racing, but by the top of third i started walking away, and 4th was no contest. So i have no doubt that those cars are slow.

Stock L98 (350) is nothing special, guys. The TPI system kills anything over 4k rpm.

On the other hand, my V6 Thirdgen ('88 Camaro) with a 5 speed is about 1-1.5 seconds quicker in the 1/4 mile than my stock '88 Turbo Supra. Ponder that one... ;)

My friend is a huge IROC lover, almost had me buying one before I had the supra. He just got an 89 with 32,000 original miles and it runs strong. He's got a 350 from a firebird in his old IROC and he's boring to 383 and putting it in the 89 body.
I've yet to race him as my car isn't running great enough for me to be confident in it yet, and he doesn't take the IROC out much.

Yea IROC's look kinda cool, thats about it. I remember when they had them on full throttle and they supercharged them, shift kitted em, put new exhaust, etc etc on them and they had like 320hp, kinda sad gain for all the work. The newer Camaros and TA's are cool, I'd like to have a TA WS6 Daily driver then my mk3 and mk4 eventually for weekend "fun"
