last night after indoor soccer, again, one of the players asked if i wanted to race, and i said sure. as we made our way out to the parking lot, i saw his m3 i think it was prolly around a 2000 or 2003, and he did a few burnouts to try and intimidate me. after i got in my car i offered to race for some cash, but he just wanted to go for shits and giggles. so we got on the freeway and did one pull at 30mph, i was in 3rd and downshifted to 2nd, and from there it was pretty much all over, i hit 120-125 and he quit i prolly had a car and a half on him before he quit. then the next pull we did at 35-40 mph. on this pull i already had it in second and was coasting along, he did the three honks, and we were off! and from there it was neck and neck til i hit 4th and 5th gears then he pulled away from me. but it was the weirdest thing, in 5th gear once i hit 4k i barely accelerated at all. Do you guys think i lost cause i didn't downshift, i just had it in gear already? why do you think my car just kinda quit? responses are appreciated thanks.

Way too much heat soak?
Boost leak?
Fouled plugs?
He had Nitros and was just playing with you the first round?
He was in the wrong gear the first round?

i don't know what heat soak is, my plugs are good, i think i do have a bit of a boost leak, but had it in first pull, i don't think he was sandbagging first pull either

ya about that lol. i dont even know where to begin, wheres the most common places that it leaks?
Check every vacuum line and every coupling on your intercooler. Tighten the piss out of them. Make sure the vacuum lines have some type of clamp on them also.
When was the last time you changed your plugs? I change mine everytime I change my oil, but I'm not saying you have too. I wouldn't offer to race for money unless I knew I was going to win. You barely won the first race and you lost the second one. If he had raced you for fifty the first time and then raised it the second race, you would have taken the bet and lost...........probably. Maybe you wouldn't have taken it. Get all of your general maintenance done and then get him. Make sure you check your plug wires also. Good luck.
