I'm finally pulling the bottom end after my BHG. The BHG happened a little over a year ago.

Here is a pic of two bottom halves (rod bearings):

Here is a shot of the crank journal. Slight grooves; but, I can't feel them with my fingernail. I'm thinking it's time to have it turned. What do y'all think?

Yeah, my buddy just came over and said that if that's the worst journal of all then he'd run it.

I'll pull the rest later on...

On second thought, I forgot that I have to be at work at 4am tomorrow. No more wrenching for me. Only pillowing! :biglaugh:

That should buff out with some steel wool.............:sarcasm:

I'd definately let a machinist make that decission for me, but the crank looks pretty scratched up.

Steel Wool. Check! ;)

Yeah, my buddy that came over is a machinist. He said run it. Plus, I've got two other engines to choose from if something catastrophic happens. They're just not built yet.

nice how was your oil pressure? notice any small hits at operating temps?

I didn't notice any big dips. But, I did notice that since the BHG, the oil pressure would drop quicker and quicker as time went on. Pressure also kept dropping lower, and lower... I wasn't surprised to find what I found bearings wise. I was just hoping to find an 'OK' crank to get a little more out of.

That Crank would make a great Mailbox post as it is ;)
(lets see the vandals break that off)

That's what I was thinking, but wanted his machinist to tell him that. Pictures can be tricky sometimes.

I'm going to pull the crank and see what else is hiding. I should be able to get to that tomorrow evening.

Clevite bearings are backordered till sometime in December. I would guess that they've cut back production because I can't imagine that there are THAT many 7M bottom end rebuilds going on!

They STOPPED production about 4 years ago......

The NDC bearings that Clevite put in their boxes are back ordered would be more accurate ;)
