Yes Kurt just like that, What did you use? I was thinking of just sanding, painting, and a clear gloss layer. But I'm afraid they'll look like wheels without hubcaps at night.

I think 92turbo4life has the 1992 chrome rims. They appear like mk4 NA rims correct?

i didnt know the 5-spokes came in chrome:icon_conf

as far as i know all you could get was

sawblades:regular ol' grey, black (turbo A model only)

91-92 5spokes: regular ol' grey, gunmetal (some 1jz equipped cars only)

oh, kurt, i love all of those old pics of your car
it was what i wanted my old car to look like when i first got it. heh i had a bunch of your pics i used as my desktop for my computer :D

edit: polished sawblades is not worth it IMO, it just looks wrong. paint em black, bronze, gunmetal, clean em real good, repaint em back to original. just no polishing :p

just my 2 cents

Or like mine, nice and cheap a couple of cans of stripper, a couple of cans of Rustoleum Hammered Black paint. No chips so far after 3k miles of driving. The expensive part is demounting the tires, then remounting and balancing them.

Jason: Just proper sanding, 3 coats (i think) of krylon gloss black, and 3 coats(i think again..) of krylon clear.
If you take this method, do it in very light coats over the course of a weekend and still plan on re-doing them every other winter. Tal-Strip Aircraft coating remover works balls, too.. I didn't use that when I painted them though. Just good old fashioned sanding.

I did the same thing as you, only with Dupli-Color gunmetal, looks badass.

Yep, I painted my old sawblades in gunmetal. Don't have a pic of them on the car, but here they are 2 years after I painted them: (The lines that appear on the top 3 are just a reflection from the side of the house)

Personally, I think it's the best possible look for the sawblades.

Nice, I gotta pick up 2 more jackstands and I think I'll be doing this soon. I'm with Stanza, I love the pics I've seen of your car Kurt.

I remember I found this one real cool. The roads reminded me alot of my old summer house in NH.

One thing I forgot to mention I did the Toyota Logos in my wheel caps with gloss white. They came out perfect. I did the white after I did the main color. I used a syringe and small needle and applied the white into the indented Toyota Logo slowly and smoothly and it came out perfect. I'll get a pic up tomorrow.
