alright today i got the engine pulled on my car and took off the oil pan to take a look inside, first thing i am greeted by is the remains of a bearing all over the oil pump filter. well as it turns out the first cylinders bearing is all on that filter, so i found the rod knock problem. i go along checking all the other bearing and they feel etched and sandpapery so i know that the whole oil and antifreeze mix probably created the acid and ate away at the bearings cause some of the others have white splotches on them and im assuming it did the same to the mains as well. also on the side of the engine inside is the remains of the bearing and oil mixed together so that it feels like liquid graphite. also this whole project keeps getting me more worried everytime we take something apart cause there are only a handful of bolts that are not finger tight. plus bots are missing or replaced with others. whoever worked on this last was a complete dipshit and i got suckered into this shitty deal. the #5 rod is replaced so im assuming the rod got bent at one time or who knows what. So my question to you guys is: should i rebuild the engine ( and spend more money than i want) should i put the car back and together and try to get my $800 back (and wait for a better supra), or should i consider buying a japanese import engine and put that in the car (another 7m of course). Im just worried about this engine cause of how it was treated and i dont want to have constant problems with it and spend ridiculous amounts of money on it. so give me some opinions.

If the engine is in as bad of shape as you describe then I would get another engine coming. The downside is you need to be prepared to rebuild it as you dont know what you are getting. At the very least replace head gasket and inspect everything. You cant really go wrong replacing an engine in a $800 car.

its an 89 targa turbo. ya i just dont know know yet i mean do i spend close to a grand on a new engine or do i just put it into this one. hmmmmm i guess i got some debating to do. i do have a neighbor that put a JDM motor in hers then wrecked it but i have no idea the shape of that motor after the crash. I might have to go investigate since its just been sitting.:evil2:
