Power steering pump goes out I fix it and everything. I double check my work. During the test drive she starts warming up so I brought her back home. I was so pissed that I didn't look at the car till 2300 this evening. The water I add to the radiator is just being pissed out onto the ground. It looks like it is leaking from the circular pulley that turns the pan. Did I blow the front main seal or a head gasket. I have checked the dip stick a number of times and I see no trace of waterin the oil. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. mike

circular pulley that turns the pan

Hmm... Like the water pump pulley?
Edit:Ohh you mean by the crank pulley..
Look at the weep hole at the bottom side of the water pump and see if it leaks from there. There is a small 1/4 inch hole that lets you know it time to replace the pump when it leaks..

oh I put the car up on the ramps moments ago before the first initial e mail. It's def. leaking from there, it runs right down onto the top of the oil pan. Why would changing the power steering pump mess with the water pump???? Damnit........, here goes another hundred dollars.

When the pump starts to fail or leak, Coolant will slip past the water pump shaft seals and run out the "weep" hole under the housing...

Is it wet at that hole. any leaks or drips at the hole?

If so, replace the water pump..

I just got done filling it all the way up with fluids in the radiator. It stopped leaking. So I took it for a test drive it seemed a bit warm when I got it home but it is still not leaking. I just got out from under it again, I checked the hole I am sure you were speaking of and it seems plugged where as I could see into it earlier and the power steering is is tip top. WTF???LOL

Hmmm..lol Not sure what you mean by plugged. Is there something in the hole blocking your view?

Maybe stop into an auto shop and they can pressurize the system for you real quick to see if it leaks. It may only leak when it's up to temp/pressure, My guess is it will start leaking again..Take a look in the morning..

Not much else up front that will just start and quit leaking except the water pump.. :dunno:

Are you still running without a fan shroud? :)

THe fan shroud was tore all to hell and back. I have fixed it as best I can and will probably do so again. Toyota wants 115$ plus tax for that 1 piece of plastic. And I would never referr anyone to try that one. without it the engine luigged enough that it was drinking gas badly. I put it together and put it back on and it's been running fine every since. I did have to rewire it again today. SO goes the life of a supra owner assume. Next will be the valva cover gaskets they leak and I tighten them every few days. But they are the least of my problems. It's getting to the point of, I don't want to take this car over the road. I feel like after all I have done for it, it should be trusting me a bit at this point but she's bloody shy I guess.

She is an evil unmerciful bitch sometimes.. lol I would just replace your water pump and that will be one less possability for leaks.

Then make a "WTB fan shroud" thread in the trade/buy section here.

IJ is totally right on the cooling issue... I just replaced my water pump, now it needs a new fan clutch, as it's running a bit hot, and if you don't let it idle for a long time after driving it, the coolant will start to boil and spill out of the overflow...maybe you should replace that too, while you're there, will the $55 "Heavy Duty" fan clutch work fine?

Also, you said your car was using lots of gas when you ran it w/out the fan shroud? I ran my NA w/out one for almost two years, with a leaky HG, and it never overheated, and I got great gas mileage...go figure. Does the undertray cover really make THAT much of a difference? MY NA didn't have it, and neither does my Turbo...in fact didn't even know it came with one originally, until someone mentioned it on here...

Johnathan: The reason you got better mileage is because your thermo clutch fan is not engaging properly..(less resistance to the motor)

I guess it is debatable if the fan shroud is needed, (not so much when driving) But if your into maintaining an even temp while sitting in gridlock traffic with the ac running on a 105 degree day you may want to keep it..imo

It is the shroud that makes the thermo clutch fan work properly. With out it, your clutch fan will not see as high of temps from the air passing through the radiator and it will not engage the clutch correctly when it is needed the most.. Like IJ said, If it is cooling related, why take a chance??

Same thing applies to the underguard as it directs air into the intercooler/radiator/oil coolers

Seems like 7M's don't like to be over heated..

2 yrs on a BHG? Your a wild man... LMAO

Yea, i guess that makes sense...

Haha, Yep almost 2 years of adding coolant every two days...never overheated though, even in 100 degree weather, doing 80MPH, with the A/C on...hahahah LMAO! I just sold that car about 6 months ago, and got a notice in the mail that it was impounded because someone was driving it w/out a license...they never transferred ownership, so we are stuck with the impound bill which is currently at $800 (for one week) and it has a 30 day hold on it! :aigo:

And what of the $55 fan clutch? I remember it said "Heavy Duty" on the box... I got one for my NA a while back, and it seemed to work well, but I want to see what everyone has to say...also I can't really afford the $200+ Aisin one from the dealer...:)

Johnathan: When you sell a car, YOU have to send the bottom portion of the title in to the DOL within 15 days of the sale to let them know you are no longer the legal owner and not liable for the car after the date of the sale listed on the transfer slip.

I always go with them to the DOL and make them transfer it that day.

Edit: Talk with the owner of the towing company and convince them to drop some of the charges in exchange for the car.. They usually will work with you, some won't.. sorry man..

I don't know about the heavy duty TFC as the stocker seems to work fine with a shroud.
