I need help on an HG choice.

ok.. i am doing my headgasket job soon. I only want to run BPU @ feul cut or so. I want a MHG but dont want to pull the motor. Should I just use the stock gasket?

I had one, I was told by several people OEM was superior so I grabbed that instead, later someone told me the OEMs are Fel Pro made.. so no idea.

No gasket in the world will hold if your head and deck are PERFECTLY flat. Just keep that in mind!

My advice, check both head and block for flatness, if they are ok, have head machined, go to a dealer, get OEM gasket, I believe theres only one size for those. MHGs have 2 diff sizes usually.

OEM are made by a company called "Stone" I think it's MDS kits have all the same gaskets and the Viton steam seals and are 1/3 the cost.

Whoops, I meant thickness, Ive only ever noticed 2 on the main market.. my bad lol 1.3 and 2mm? I forget, I know I see 2mm alot lol

I used a felpro gasket on a few motors with good results. 425 rwhp with arp head bolts and ran for many years with no problems. The heads had been decked, the blocks cleaned and check for flatness only. One of the motors saw over 200 passes at the 1/4 mile with no BHG. I think the felpro with proper prep work is fine up to 400-450 hp. just my experience.
