I'm pretty sure the starter for the sc300 will work, but I'm looking through the stickies to make sure.

Its the same as any 2JZ or 7M starter. You can find them on eBay all the time. Just look around, put a little effort into finding what you need instead of just asking us.

They are not all the same. The 7m ones dont all work, i have gone through buying them, trying and then returning. They are designed differently. I posted pix of mine after being rebuilt. Some 2j do work.

i think it should be 91-92 7m starter and 91-92 (possibly 93) 2j starter. the 2j starters are only different because of the plug - i had a early 2j starter that had the possible 1j starter plug (no complaints from the buyer so it must have been right) and i had the 93+ aristo 2j and i bought a 95 starter some years ago for my mkiv and it worked, even the plug was the same, forthe 2j.

not sre in the differences in the 7m and 2j starters i didnt really pay attention to them (even though i think i remember the earlier 7m, 89, starter was different.

but this is just observation by me during my swap and my sc300 2j swap :):)

Ive got a starter from my original 87 7M on my 1JZ right now. It works just fine.

I am just saying that all 7m ones dont work. Some do and some dont. I purchased 2 different ones that were from 7m's and they didnt bolt up. They were completely different. I finally had to have mine rebuilt instead of finding one. It was about the same price and only took 8 hours.

Oh I gotcha, may bad I didn't get exactly what you were saying. Thats weird some work and other don't. Any idea what the differences are? I know the 91-92 started are threaded on the starter where as previous models you had to use a nut but thats the only difference I know of.

U got it! I forgot the difference too. It has been 6 months since i did mine, but yeah, my 1j starter is threaded and the ones i bought from napa weren't. Also how it connected to the flywheel was different.

I have a 91 2JZ starter. It's identical to my 91 1JZ starter.

and no you can't have it. It's my spare for when my current starter craps out.

Wait, you have a 91 2JZ starter? They made 2J's in 91?

aristo 91+
you can tell the years apart kind of by the intake manifold (think of where the mkiv brake booster vac port sits, there isnt one in the same location for the early jz's)

No shit, that's cool to know.

the traction control also tells you what car the engine came from and if it was USDM or JDM (a lot of shops might try and rip you off hoping you cant tell the difference) aristo's control module is silver/aluminum and the mkiv's is black, they also say something like "traction control" on the usdm and jdm has TCSR or soething~~~ the brake booster again will give it away the usdm is short and points to the brake booster the jdm is longer and points towards the jdm drivers side. the early aristo also have a oil filter location similar to an n/a model where it sticks out w/o an angle, the 93+ have an angle to it

(sorry for bad spelling, laptop typing sucks :))
