Wow the ignorance in this thread is pretty mind blowing. Apple's products are not only incredibly high quality but are easy to use to boot. The iPhone is WAY more capable then all the other devices I've seen posted here, how many of your phones run a full desktop quality OS? Hmm... thought so.

Translation: Apples are good for people who don't know shit about computers, and they cost more than they are worth.
Sorry, but I'd rather have a bit more fun and flexibility without having to pay a premium for some bullshit gay-colored [even peripherals!] toy-looking machine. Did you know that buying an apple laptop used to cost you more if you bought it in black? Can you bend your mind around that one? To justify the $200 difference, they added 40gb extra of hard-disk space over the white one, but that was just to stop the bitching!

I'll tell you what - power PC users don't need commercials to make fun of competitor's products; the users who know what they are doing also know that Apples are a joke.

If I hear one more comment about how fucking amazing and revolutionary the iphone is going to be I'm going to go dig myself a hole!

TELL ME SOMETHING YOU CAN DO ON AN IPHONE THAT KYLE CAN'T DO WITH HIS POCKETPC OR THAT I COULDN'T DO WITH A TREO 700.

Windows mobile allows you to do a ton, i just dont get why Apple's products get all the hype.

IPhone: "Hey look at me!! I have a nice-looking outer shell and I have some cool transition effects in my operating system!!!"

Me: "Oh thats nice, but I dont need to be hip and trendy, I don't really need any special effects when i open a word document either. So I'll just buy a Treo for $300 and spend the $200 I saved on something else that actually serves a purpose and not a fashion statement."

I'm sorry, the IPhone's neat and looks uh.... "flashy", but how is it worth 500-600 dollars? And how's it going to revolutionize the industry? MAYBE phones will have hard drives, but since THEY'RE SO MUCH MORE LIKELY TO FAIL, chances are the phones will stick with flash memory.

***Oh and I'm not sure about trying to create any sort of word/excel documents using a touchscreen. Someone with an IPhone, meet up with me in June and we'll have a competition called... "Who can be more productive?"

More capable? Please. Just another toy

ELL EMM AY OH!

K, I'm a Mac guy, but I'm sorry, the iPhone is just not worth it.

It does NOT run a full quality desktop OS - unlike the MANY Windows Mobile-based phones on the market.
It barely runs a full functioned browser and a *few* little widgets.
Sorry, but the Windows-Mobile based phones offer Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint viewer, MP3/WMA/MP4, etc players, games, a host of 3rd party apps, like GPS/mapping software.

Sorry, but there's no way it could replace my PDA. Plus, not even being able to translate handwriting to text? Cmon...

EVERY device here is more capable than the iPhone. Just b/c it has a HD, big whoop, you can buy a 4 gig card for your Windows phone.

Oh, and I'm on my 3rd Apple notebook, their hardware quality isn't particularly special. And repairs are through the ass expensive.

As much as I like Apple, the iPhone is not at all worth it, and the amount of ignorance in your post is mind blowing!

Have a good day!!! :)

Thank you Chad, even a mac guy can see this one. I think some people become blinded by that Apple logo :)

Yup, sorry but my 3 year old Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC has more features than the iPhone, except for a HD. Prolly a faster processor, too (Intel X-Scale 624Mhz).

And I have Office and more, including WiFi and Bluetooth and REAL GPS, not cell-service dependent pseudo-GPS. I've had this for 3 years. What's so revolutionary about the iPhone? Nothing!

BTW, mkIIIman, Windows Mobile is MUCH MUCH closer to a desktop OS.
If it had like Mac OS 10 Lite or something and could do all that my PDA could do, I'd be all over it.

But it doesn't.
Facts don't lie.

Kyle's phone got us out of San Jose, it was awesome.

He could also probably get into some good trouble with the video capabilities if he actually went to school.

by hooking people with flashy advertising and basic bull shit. the same way the ipod did.

Yup. Agreed. Its a shame so many people can be so shallow(talking mostly about the iPhone, although the iPod wasn't exactly mind blowing. For apple, Jobs has been a savior. Not necessarily as a business man, but more as a pure advertising campaign master. )

Its all about perception ;)

These days, the "make fun of your competitor" and "we're so much better than brand X" is old news, and maybe Apple was the originator of smug, insulting advertizing.

The latest Apple commercial with Justin Long [the nerd from the Dodgeball movie] and the fat guy with glasses in a hospital gown is simply annoying. You see, the fat guy, who is unconfident and made to seem naive, almost "slow" is in a hospital gown because he represents the PCs that will need "major hardware upgrade" surgery in order to be able to upgrade to Windows Vista. He's uncertain because the surgery "might not be successful!".. yet this young, hip, smug, sarcastic guy represents the Mac. He's so "with it" that he doesn't have to have surgery. It just works.
Well I'm sorry, Dodgeball boy, but you won't dodge my wrench, and Apple will never have my business. So long as I have an interest in electronics, I will be building and repairing my own computers, that I select each individual part for and build by hand.
Just because I have a major beef with Vista doesn't mean that I would ever switch to Mac. I won't even touch an iPod, simply on principle.

Basically Macs are worthless to an enthusiast for anyone other than Joe Shmoe who wants to be cool with his iPod. You can't play games on it, back in the day you couldn't even read basic .txt files (that I'm not 100% on, my teacher told me that). Oh wait, whats that? Mac is powered by Intel now? It dual boots into Windows XP? So it admitted its inferior? GTFO

Then you don't know very much about Macs.
