1. Make sure that your rod and main bearings are within tolerances, and not loose tolerances.
2. You say it's a 7mge, and not a 7mgte, so no oil squirter bolts to worry about.
3. Replace your oil pump. I suggest a 7mgte oil pump- it's a higher capacity unit than the NA.
4. You can also buy a high volume oil pipe kit from some of the vendors on here, but I wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary.
5. Replace your oil pressure sending unit. This is often a contributing factor to low pressure indications.

That's all I suggest. Others will have additional ideas, I'm sure. The best way to avoid rodknock and spun bearings is to make sure that your headgasket is torqued down properly(~72 ft-lbs for composite, stock head bolts), to avoid coolant contamination into the oil supply and vise-versa. And Just as important, keep your oil topped off. Many people put 1/2 to a full quart extra in the motor.
ALWAYS check you oil level before driving. For one reason or another, oil can leak out and leave you low, and susceptible to oil starvation.

so it's good to have the oil squirters replaced if you have a 7mgte.

the springs inside the bolts wear out with age. it is a good idea to replace the bolts. so yes.

To add on to what was previously said:

- use a good filter with good oil, more on this in the lubrication section
- a thermostatically controlled oil cooling system will also help. oil's biggest enemy is heat. if you beat on your engine you will create lots of heat, which will start to break down the oil and reduce its lubricating characteristics.
